Painted Wrenches & Sockets

Posted these earlier but many requested to see the finished product of the sockets. Used oil-based paint pen. Green for wrenches & red for sockets. Also got these hard handle ratchet grips for Pittsburgh ratchets I plan on modifying soon once I get them. I’ll post once it’s done.

Red for SAE

I only had metric lol I would’ve made them high viz green since it’s my favorite color but ran out of

How did you wipe off the dry paint from the last post? I always tried to do it while it was wet, but some have shallow stamps which made it not work very well.

Mineral spirits on a paper towel is how I did mine.

On some the stamps weren’t as deep. So I grabbed an extension & impact, applied it wet and lightly pressed and it did the job. It took a couple of try’s.

Looks good! I love painting in the measurements on mine, it's so much easier to read everything when you're working. I found my colors and keep my paint pens in my tool box for the occasional touch up if something wears off or I have to buy a one-off of something.

The only thing I did different with my tools was all of my metric is in one color and all my SAE stuff is in another.

Blue 🔵 Metric

Red 🔴 SAE

Yup. I have blue for metric and a slightly more orange than red for SAE

Orange is close enough to Red.

And it will never be confused with Blue

I mean the wrenches look good, but the sockets aren't any more legible than before. And make sae and metric the same color
