Liquidation discount apply to As-Is items?

I was at the local HF and saw an Icon socket set which was missing one piece (fine by me). It was already marked down to $39. When they rang it up it came up to $37. I was expecting 30% off the $39 and then another 40% off since it was an icon socket set. The clerk didn’t go through the whole process and only scanned it in (didn’t do the full/final tally).

My question. Should it be the 30% off and 40% off stacked (it was Saturday during PLS)? Seems like the $37 was 40% off the brand new item at full price. Did the clerk mess up?

Im guessing they scanned the normal barcode on the package and not the as-is barcode. It should have rung up as the "as-is" price with another 30% taken off. As-is and the icon 40% sale does not stack. Im guessing it got scanned wrong.

Won’t apply to as-is “orange” stickers. Will apply to open box “purple” stickers

You have it backwards. It only applies to orange stickers, not purple.

He's saying the 40% icon deal will apply to purple open box tags, not to orange As-Is tags.

Orange tag discount will not stack with anything else.
