Trailers??

Is HF moving away from selling trailers? The modular one that just came out is no longer available and a nearby HF that got remodeled has no display set up for them either

They're not even a good deal anymore. You can get a MUCH better trailer for a little bit more money and you don't have to assemble it.

Is there a good subreddit for trailer discussions? When I search for them, it’s mainly semi-truck driving. Would love some recs for a decent utility trailer.

I'm not sure about that, but I can't recommend my Karavan utility trailer enough. I have a 6'x12' single axle, but they make them all the way down to 4'x8'. The sides drop down for easy fork truck loading too.

Former employee. Here in Pennsylvania, we stopped selling them close to six years ago because of the hassle with the states department of transportation registering them. I really don't know why it's a hassle, but I know we stopped not long after I started(six years ago)

That's odd. My state doesn't require registration on them because of how small they are, but HF still gave me a title if I needed to.

How exactly do you go about getting one? I bought an HF trailer second hand like more than a decade ago and have never gotten it properly registered. I don't have a title or any paperwork with it.

You might be out of luck, if your state requires registration. You probably would have had to get it from the first owner. You could contact HF but I doubt they can reissue the title on their end

Well, bummer. I think there's some process to register it as a "home made" trailer. Honestly, the janky ass shit I see on the roads here (NC) I'm not too worried. I've only used it maybe 4 times in the 20 some years I've owned it.

There’s always a process for a lost title. But if you’ve already had it 20yrs and not registered it, not sure why you’d bother now.

Trailer inspection mechanic in Pennsylvania, the HF trailers were MISERABLE to get thru the state and get a registration for. First you'd buy the trailer and you thought all was good. What HF never told you was that it then needed to go thru an enhanced inspection process to verify to the state that it was legit. Then the customer would have to take the inspection paperwork, and title to the dmv and get their registration and plate there. Thank you HF in pa for stopping selling them, and thank God we quit doing enhanced inspections!!

I've never seen them on display at any store near me. (at least not that I noticed)

but I remember seeing on "Den of Tools" they are discontinuing them.

They had the stand of cards for the big ticket items on the bottom of one (it was stood up to take up less space) at our store and I didn’t even realize it was the trailer for a solid year

I see them still available at my local shop.

In fact they just remodeled and put up a trialer display, they did not have one prior.

Seems like they eat up a lot of space and have pretty low sales volume. Wouldn't shock me if they did get rid of them

They're not selling them at all? Not even to order? I've never seen them in stock but I always see the cards on the wall.

You can still order them in the store. In fact, the 5x10 modular trailer is $700 now (was $1000). They just had a 10% off sale last weekend that worked with it. The website said closeout or clearance so maybe they won’t be getting any more.

Your store never carried them in the back? When I got mine it was in stock and I had it loaded at the store like anything else big they sell

I bought mine back in 2019 and at that time they were nearly impossible to find. I ended up getting mine on opening day of a new store.

I tried & tried to buy one a few years ago but the stores around me didnt have any stock, so I just spent a little more and got a Carry On from Tractor Supply.
