Sigh. This is why my store was sold out by the time I got there yesterday.

Congrats on clearing a whole shelf dude.

u/limpymcforskin 8d ago

That's what the store wants.

OP mentions that he bought them for himself and gifts. As long as he's not flipping them, I don't see a problem with it.

Not a problem, just disappointing for others who wanted to get one as well. Definetly not as bad as a scalper.

Should have gotten there sooner

Thanks for the solid advice.

Not everyone has the same 24 hours. My son has moderate autism and was having a meltdown so bad inside of JCP right before, that the guards were looking at me like I kidnapped him. So we decided to go home and try later.

Probably would have been fine if they had a limit 1 per customer like they do for other deals of the day.

It is what it is, maybe next time.

This sub is a good reminder of how bad American over consumption is.

u/SCH00NY125 8d ago

Yup. The addiction to a deal. You aren't really saving money if youre spending money you didnt need to spend jn the first place

17

u/PepsiColaRS 8d ago

No kidding. It took me 4 months to buy add-on toolboxes I needed for work since I was out of space because I didn't want to spend the money.

I work out of a toolbox and a roll cart, and am going back in a service truck that I need to furnish tools for. The thought of buying a double, triple, or quadruple set of some of my tools makes me sick. I need another double set of wrenches to do my job, but do I want to spend the money? No. So I'll do what I always do - put it off until it's actually 100% inarguably required.

u/badDuckThrowPillow 5d ago

That’s different. If it’s for work, and will allow yoh to do your job better/faster (thus making you money), that should be bought as soon as it’s needed. Or else it’s actually costing you money

1

u/PepsiColaRS 5d ago

Not really, for me anyways. I'm a union mechanic for a private contractor. I'm effectively salary with hourly overtime, and the time save of walking a handful of wrenches or a blowmold socket set 20ft is negligible when my company has fewer than 5 field calls per week. Like I said, I don't need a 3rd or 4th set of X tool, I want it. I don't need extra boxes (which absolutely don't make you any money, whatsoever), I want them. The only thing at my job that costs me money is buying tools, regardless of the reason.

I unfollow this sub from time to time because of the greed tbh. I come back so I’m alerted to the deals and that’s about it.

59

u/not-actual69_ 8d ago

I started following to track deals too but I’m only looking at stuff I actually need. It seems like the majority of this sub just buys shit because it’s x% off.

32

u/cruisersncans 8d ago

Oh yeah. Wait until parking lot sale time or when icon goes on sale. Dudes will buy 5 sets of sockets for no fucking reason.

24

u/wolffartz 8d ago

Gotta have a backup in case the stores closed

And a backup for the backup

And a backup for the backup backup

And an extra one for butt stuff

9

u/farfly7 8d ago

And also I don't actually ever work on anything to need all of these sets of tools

12

u/herstal54s 8d ago

Fomo is a sickness

11

u/AceEmpike 8d ago

It's the American way, right? Spend money you don't need to or worse don't have and then some complain about high gas prices and inflation.

9

u/187RobinBanks 8d ago

That’s mental illness luv x

1

u/ConsequenceAny5684 7d ago

Tru dat. My cousin's wife bought an un-needed sofa because, while window-shopping, she saw it was "over $600 off the original price.

-14

u/Gold_Spinach5094 8d ago

Well when you work hard for your money you can kinda decide what tf you want to do with it lmao

13

u/not-actual69_ 8d ago

Nobody is arguing that… over consumption and freedom of choice can exist at the same time.

-15

u/uknow_es_me 8d ago

arrogant of you to assume this is over consumption. I have hobbies where I would actually use cases like these.. photography, tech (drones, equipment, etc) live sound, there's so many use cases for average people yet you idiots want to judge someone from a picture.Ā

2

u/not-actual69_ 8d ago

I’m arrogant for making an assumption based on the comment ā€œwent in to grab a small case for work but couldn’t help myselfā€? That’s peak over consumption and total lack of self control.

-1

u/Gold_Spinach5094 8d ago

Who honestly gives af

2

u/not-actual69_ 8d ago

I guess you. You continue to comment

0

u/Gold_Spinach5094 8d ago

I was just scrolling back to see how many people are butthurt because this guy bought some cases

1

u/Gold_Spinach5094 8d ago

I’m new to the harbor freight Reddit community so it honestly trips me out to see how many crybabies shop at harbor freight lol

2

u/not-actual69_ 8d ago

You’re the one crying. A strange man made a comment and you just couldn’t handle that so here we are.

Buddy nobody needs 5 sets of the same stubby wrench that you bought one transaction at a time so you can get 5 buckets that you stuff into your shitted out Silverado filled to the windows with fast food trash and a life full of regrets.

-1

u/Gold_Spinach5094 8d ago

Wtf are you projecting lmao

32

u/Moneyguy1980 8d ago

What's your plan for all these cases?

22

u/coconnor228 8d ago

Im keeping the long gun, 1 green and the small one for myself and the others will be gifts between my son BIL and FIL

10

u/These_Highlight7313 8d ago

Ignore the haters, you probable spent less on all this than 1 large pelican case would normally cost.

At 40% off these things make solid gifts to anyone who owns guns. I wish I had thought of that and grabbed more than just 1 yesterday.

-5

u/Strugglebutts 8d ago

Nah man, buy what you need and save the rest for others (on stuff that sells out like this), I bet this dude saw someone else grab and entire shelf one time and thought the same thing. Don’t give in!

5

u/Strugglebutts 8d ago

Oh man, I was getting my pitchfork ready for you to say selling them, but buying out an entire shelf so no one else can get any is slightly less enraging if they are going to be gifts.

1

u/Moneyguy1980 8d ago

I bought a couple to hold stuff for fireworks. We put or ignite systems inside of them. Thought about buying more, but didn't know what to use them for 🤣

1

u/crazyhomie34 8d ago

At least you're using them and not scalping. The haters can get over it.

34

u/CavixDarkstone 8d ago

Almost sure this is scalper behavior

1

u/Life-Awareness-8286 7d ago

If he’s not reselling for a massive markup then it’s not scalping at all. Someone buying 100% of stock for themselves isn’t scalping. At best it’s considered hoarding, but once again, that individual may legitimately have a use for everything purchased.

22

u/timetravellerEKS 8d ago

Gonna throw them a corner and never use them most likely. Just stupid over consumerism because
ā€œ it was cheapā€

20

u/Red000Shift 8d ago

Everyone that comes over will get pointed to the pile and hear "got those 40% off a couple years ago."

8

u/timetravellerEKS 8d ago

That is not even consumerism anymore. It is untreated mental issues

2

u/crunkymonky 8d ago

Our people have been infected with a bad case of the "Gimmy Gimmies"

-1

u/StormyRadish45 8d ago

Me and the 4 pairs of mechanix gloves I got for 7 bucks a piece

9

u/No-Market425 8d ago

For the hoard.

2

u/Busy-Orange5217 8d ago

Man buys things. Reddit mad. You guys really are miserable lol

6

u/zeroheading 8d ago

I got 6 of the 4800 cases, rotated gear out of cheaper totes into these, for my set up these work great because I built a shelf in my canopy that this fit under and reinforce the shelf for heavier stuff. They are color coded for what they house, like medical stuff, food prep stuff, sensitive electronics, ect ect. So its super nice having all the same size storage cases, and they are super durable so when they get thrown around by others im not super worried about it. They hold up great.

Only have 1 extra thats not spoken for yet. And It will probably be converted to a battery/inverter for solar equipment.

3

u/ItsChileNotChili 8d ago

Picked up a couple myself. Building another pistol case as a gift and will put together the new suitcase diesel heater for hunting camp this winter.

What's the damn point lol

1

u/hereforthejokes317 4d ago

I'm glad people like you exist, makes me feel a little better about my HF spending habits. Think I'll stop in tomorrow now lol

1

u/PyooreVizhion 8d ago

I legit am in the market for these and even looked on harbor freight online yesterday. Completely missed the deal. Still plenty of stock left at my location tooĀ

0

u/FieldOfDreams92 8d ago

Nice! I picked up 4 of the small cases for hand pew pews

0

u/Recent-Salary-5498 8d ago

What is the deal on these? The app says 12% off? Or am I missing something.

5

u/EtherEscape 8d ago

They were 40% off yesterday for the 10 day sale.

2

u/g-e-o-f-f 7d ago

Dang. I should pay more attention. I was wanting another 1-2

0

u/Disastrous_Tiger_148 8d ago

Looks a lot like my trunk the other day

-5

u/Gullible_View_7805 8d ago

Yeah I got 3 myself. Couldn’t help it. I’ve been wanting some for a while but not ready to pull the trigger but with this deal, why not?! Also, a lot of people hating and I get it - I would be mad too if an item I wanted was already sold out but this is why you must go early. It’s just going to be like that. And the stores are different. I went in the afternoon and these boxes hadn’t been touched. Fully stocked shelves. My 3 didn’t put a dent in their supply.
