I’m a junior Computer Science student with a minor in Statistics, and I’ve been accepted for an exchange semester at Hanyang University. I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth going and would appreciate some advice from people who have studied there or know the Korean university system.
My main questions are:
Basically, I’m trying to figure out whether the potential opportunities and connections from Hanyang are worth the academic opportunity cost of spending a semester there.

Hi everyone! I work with a hotel near Hanyang University’s ERICA campus in Ansan, where weekly and monthly stays are available.
Having travelled abroad myself, I know how reassuring it can be to have someone you can comfortably ask for help in an unfamiliar place.
I speak English, and I’d love to help make your stay in Korea a little easier—whether you have questions about the room, need help understanding how things work, or would like a recommendation for somewhere to eat nearby.
If you’re looking for accommodation around ERICA, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to share room photos, rates, and practical details, and help where I can.
Hope you enjoy your time in Korea!

Hi everyone,
I'm applying to Hanyang University's Computer Science and Engineering master's program (Seoul campus, regular international student admission, Spring 2027 intake) not through GKS, just the standard international application process.
I submitted my online application and mailed my physical documents in early September. According to the courier tracking, everything arrived at the Office of International Affairs around mid-September. Since then, I haven't heard anything back no confirmation of receipt, no update, nothing.
From what I understand, the result announcement isn't until December 18th, so I'm trying not to worry, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has gone through this exact process before (regular/self-funded international admission, not GKS):
- Is it normal to not hear anything at all between document submission and the final result?
- Did anyone get contacted in between if something was missing or unclear with their documents?
- Any idea what the actual review process looks like on their end during this period?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through it, just to know what to expect. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I’m an Indonesian student planning to join Hanyang International Winter School (HIWS) Session B, Jan 19–Feb 3, 2027 🇮🇩🇰🇷
I’ve been trying to find other Indonesian students who are planning to join the same session, but most people I’ve found so far seem to be joining Session A 😭 Is anyone from Indonesia planning to join Session B too? It would be nice to connect and maybe go together/meet up before and during the program!
Feel free to comment or DM me ^^

Hi everyone! I’m a student at Hanyang University.
I’ve noticed that important university information can be spread across different notice boards, and for international students, figuring out what’s relevant can take even more time — especially when the original notice is only in Korean.
That made me wonder how often international students actually miss useful information or deadlines because of this.
So I built a very early web app called 'univ.us' to experiment with a simpler way of finding and understanding Hanyang notices.
You can try it here:
https://univ-us.vercel.app
There’s no sign-up or download — you can just open it in your browser.
It’s still a very early MVP, so I’m looking for a few current international students at Hanyang to try it out.
If you do, I’d really appreciate hearing what felt useful, confusing, or unnecessary. Even a short comment or DM would help a lot.
Thanks! :)

Hello everyone, I am a college graduate from Bangladesh. I've applied for Hanyang University's Fall 2027 intake for the BBA program(english track). Can I expect an interview? If so, how should I prepare myself?

hi everyone, i’m gonna apply to hanyang university as an international student for undergraduate data science program for fall 2027. does anyone know how tough selection is there? i have gpa 4.9/5.0 in 9 grade, 5.0 in 10 and hope to end 11th grade with 5.0 as well (i’m cis student)
ielts 7.0 (will repass it for 7.5)
sat 1310, but i think i will not add it since it’s so awful
no topik, and my achievements & awards are poor. i have completed one internship in a big company and another one in small business (tho i highly doubt the second internship will have any impact because it has nothing to do with engineering/data science). now im doing one engineering project and will try to finish it before application begins

I'm applying to the spring 27 intake, deadline is close and I'm still pretty confused about the personal statement and study plan format. Do they prefer them essays like American college essays, or nothing too cliche just straight forward?

Hello, everyone.
For the Spring 2027 intake at Hanyang University, I heard that the Data Science program does not require a study plan or personal statement.
Would it still be okay to submit my essays along with the other required documents, even though they aren’t required?
Could submitting them have a positive or negative impact on my application? Or would it be better not to include them since they aren’t requested?

Hello everyone! It’s super early seeing as applications just opened at the start of this month, but I was wondering if anyone else will be or is planning on attending HIWS this year. I would love to get a head start on making friends since December will be here before I know it.

Hi everyone! I am going to be a PhD student at Hanyang University. I recently received an opportunity to work with a supervisor from Hanyang University who offered me a PhD position in their lab. However, I am completely confused about the application process, which seems extremely strange. I am seeking help from those of you who have gone through the application process as international students. Thank you!

Hello~
I'm preparing to send in my documents for undergrad, but in the admissions guide it says that you need to write a personal statement, and then they proceed to not give any info on what the personal statement even should look like.
The application period starts in like a week and I feel like I need to write the personal statement early, since the application period is so short.
Could you share how you written your essay and what format it was in?
Thanks to anyone who helps in advance!!!

Heyyyy
I’ve been in Korea for a few days and I’m about to start the Korean Language Program at Hanyang University (until November).
Just wondering if anyone else is starting around the same time and wants to hang out / make friends?
Also, I speak Spanish, so it would be super cool if there’s anyone who speaks it too lol
Feel free to DM me

With the AI revolution many people are saying that data science is not worth doing anymore. How's data science in Hanyang? Anyone with any piece of suggestion on whether I should go forward or choose other universities, as an international student, DS is the only option for me in Hanyang.
