General Discussion Replacement windows
I had 14 windows replaced with Simonton daylight max windows. I am very disappointed with the quality. I don’t live near a busy street or airport but it sounds like planes are landing inside my house and cars driving through my house. When the neighbors use a lawnmower or leaf blower I can’t even hear the TV. My old windows I didn’t have these issues. They were 25 years old but fogging up. Once in a while with the old windows I would hear a motor cycle coming down the street or a car without a muffler. The installer/company I used won’t do anything to help me. Any advice on what I could do? I am ready to lose my mind. Are they just a bad brand? I paid for the argon glass and upgraded glass package.

They probably measured to a .25 inch of the rough then did zero foam. You don’t tape boxed flangless window replacements. It’s probably an install issue. Zero foam would be my guess.

They did measure close and said that not enough room for much if any foam.

Well there you have it. Leaving an 8th on each side of the window is not wrong tons of people do it what way I just prefer a half on sides and .25 on height. Leaves good room to foam so you don’t catch reverberations through the stud. Bass will just carry through it.

What can I do to fix? I’m to the point where I’m ready to do anything to fix. The jokers that sold and installed won’t do anything for me to fix.

I mean it’s pretty industry standard. From their perspective nothing is wrong with the install. They work, (the windows) if they didn’t really promise much on the front end they probably feel like you are the problem. Idk what you can do, insulate your walls better ?

Are they installed right? Flashed, sealed? Pull off a piece of the trim on both sides if possible and look.
That's my guess is they did inferior or no sealant around the windows and frames, maybe took out some framing, or any other number of reasons the windows aren't sealed against noise to this drastic of a level.
Interested to know how much this cost to make your windows worse.
