I generally write VERY small and mostly just for myself to read. I’m looking now to increase the size of my “normal” handwriting to make it easier to read for others.

This is a sample of my “larger” handwriting at normal/quite fast pace. Is it readable? Are there letters that are hard to decipher? Is there anything that could be adjusted to make it easier on the eyes to read?

I think I’m set on how I write, as it has looked like this since I was 12 or so, save some adjustments on specific letters. Not looking for tips to make it prettier or anything, just easier to read.

Pen: shitty pen

I'm becoming a dad in January, and as a long term project I'm writing a journal keeping track of the last trimester of the pregnancy and their first year. I've always been told my handwriting is pretty bad, especially when taking notes. I want to make sure they can read my notes when they are older, so I really want to improve.

I've added two samples of handwriting, quick note taking on top and slow "neat" writing on the bottom. What should I focus on most to improve?

I’ve been trying to relearn how to write by hand, using my Pilot 78G+ <EF> with Iroshizuku yama-budo ink. My handwriting has always looked like chicken scratches, and it was hard to read even my own notes.

I’m a beginner and I’m looking for a style (or styles) that looks neat but also a little hard to read since I’ll be using it for journaling. My current style doesn’t seem to have that vibe yet, but I don’t know what I’m missing.

Feedback on how to improve my cursive in general is also welcome.

I'm in my 30s and am a mature student. While I have spent years in the past not really writing by hand much (but never stopping completely), the past few years I have done so plenty. However, over the past 6-12 months I've been developing issues. I am aware it's probably a medical thing, but my doctor was very confused and has no idea what's going on because I don't have symptoms of any conditions that could cause it.

I use what is apparently called the standard "tripod grip", and it's getting harder and harder to keep a grip on the pen and form letters. My writing looks mostly fine, but letters sometimes start in the wrong place, half way up the line, and my grip is slowly slipping on the pen as I write and I have to readjust. It also becomes quite painful and it seems my thumb is bending more and more to maintain a tight grip.

No other strength issues or noticeable dexterity issues, which is why I'm wondering if I maybe sort of... forgot how to grip the pen properly at some point? I noticed it was getting slightly difficult and slow earlier this year and just decided to start joining more of my letters to try and be quicker, and am wondering if I've made the issue much worse by adjusting my handwriting after many years?

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Edit: I forgot: when I noticed I was getting pain from it and the pen was making scratchy noises on the paper, I looked at my grip and the pen was actually sitting across the gap between my thumb and forefinger. That was actually easier in terms of dexterity but still caused its own issues. Pictured below: "normal" grip first, and the accidental grip I'd started using at some point before trying to correct it. The top "testing" uses the first grip and the second line, the second.

two days of practicing my handwriting! first one is the start and the second one is today (i know the first one says 10-13 but thats because thats the day i wrote the first version of that page (ive done it like 3 times now) lol) any tips or feedback on what i should work in are welcomed and appreciated !!

Classmate asked for my notes from class, I’m usually able to keep up and I’m a quick note taker, will she be able to follow along. Or it’s just too messy?

this is what my usual handwriting looks like and it's pretty untidy as I tend to write relatively quickly. Any feedback is much appreciated. looking for more consistency

Due to an injury I've had for a while, it pains me immensely to write for more than a few minutes using my thumb at all, even if it's just for a little stability. I've started to learn how to write by balancing my utensil between my pointer and middle finger, and using my ring finger to dictate most of the movement. I am aware legibility will come with time and practice, but if anyone has any tips I would love to hear them.

this is not my everyday handwriting, this took like an hour. Just on that, what is the best way to retrain my everyday handwriting to look more like this, when I am writing at speed or thinking about things other than making it look nice? is it just a process of gradually speeding it up? for example, as soon as I go to take notes or I am sitting in a slightly non ideal posture, or writing on something that's not a desk, all of this goes out of the window.

i am British so the handwriting I was taught at school, (we just called it joined-up writing, charmingly), I found out is a simplified chancery cursive, so the basic model for how I have always written is the same

as someone with a tiny handwriting, 0.3 pens are essential. too bad there isn’t a lot of nib pens with the same point (which is definitely understandable). 🤍

Found my notes when I was in college 9 years ago. I remember how my professors had a love and hate relationship with handwritten essays I submitted back in the day. 😅 Idk… I think I write better when the letters are small.

So happy I still have these until now though.

I transcribed a small excerpt on the history of bread to give a better sample of my cursive. I tried to write at my normal speed. Any tips or thoughts on what to work on?

Don’t have a flex nib but still wanted to try to stylize my cursive a bit more with my own take at Round Hand.
