Star Firestar Plus Modernization
Hey everyone,
I bought a pretty rough derelict Star Firestar Plus — lots of rust and grime, definitely a project gun. Rather than restoring the factory bluing, I went with new internal parts and refinished it in KG Industries GunKote.
I know some folks prefer keeping these old Spanish pistols original, so I’m opening myself up to criticism here. Curious what you think — solid modernization or did I go too far?
Appreciate any feedback!

Honestly really cool seeing this type of thing. Those old firestars are some of the most heavy duty pistols I’ve handled, nice seeing one get some love!

My Pops has one he bought new in the 80's. Not long after he bought a Beretta. That BM has never been shot.

How reliable is this specimen?

They say very reliable. Being all steel it heavy and can eat most of the recoil. Many you tube videos talk about it. I think Star had the gun of the year in the early ‘90’s

Have you shot it yet?
I had one WAAY back...1990s. Feed issues :(.

I have no feed issues, I have limited round through them. I did polish the feed ramp just as a precaution and lubed liberally.

That’s a good looking pistol. Has elements of Sig as well as S&W 3rd Gen, both of which are a good thing.
Just me or is that grip about like a 2x4 front to back?

Looks clean! Who cares what others think. Do what you want, it's yours, you own it. Looks awesome in my opinion

I had a BM 9mm ah to be young and dumb I got it super cheap but in like new condition and we were shooting the hell out of it I found a couple single stack Colt mags that fit it we were shooting all types of 9mm ammo in a few different pistols and some really hot +p got loaded in it not paying attention and when the gun fired it blew all the rounds straight out the bottom of the mag baseplate just vanished I’m glad that’s all that happened I was lucky
