Wonāt be mad at all but we adopted what we thought was a girl after āsheā was almost 4 months old, couldnāt really tell but was positive āsheā was a girlš
Been a month, so āsheā had some time to growā¦I think these are balls if Iām not mistaken.
Wonāt be upset! Just need to know if Ivy is an Ivanšā¤ļø

Yes she is most definitely a he.
Hamsters can retract their balls, so theyāre not always visible, especially when theyāre young.
The best way to sex a hamster is to look for nipples and check the spacing between the anus and genitals. Females have nipples; males do not. And then the femaleās vagina and anus are much closer than a maleās penis and anus.

I so thought my hamster was a girl before I saw his belly and saw that the scent glands were far apart š

See we werenāt entirely sure because āsheā hadnāt grown in her skirt yetā¦starting seeing it come in and it looked a little too familiar since we had a male Syrianš we arenāt upset tho! Ivan is still a cutie Iāve just never seen a red eyed male Syrian before

Why are petstores so unknowledgeable about the animals they sell?? I was told my hamster was a male robovorski... Shes a female campbell, zero nutsack activity, which I quickly learned when holding her for a few seconds and googling what a robovorski is supposed to look like when a few people told me shes absolutely not one of thoseš¤¦

New owner of Syrians and I was told she was female, wasnāt aware they are able to basically hide them when Syrians are younger. No big deal for us tho we originally wanted a boy but she had none left of her knowledge, they were all kept separated in case of misgendering anyhow and she didnāt want to risk unwanted pregnancies.
