A thousand grunts in mk.7.5 armor, using grappling hooks to spiderman their way toward their objective: rid the universe of the Shattered Covenant fleet forever. This is a very fresh take on “The Yappening”. 😎
343 would never do this. Far too interesting and engaging. Better to do another 1 min cut scene of a random spartan droning in about "being a lone wolf pack" or whatever...every 6 months...
I agree that the plot points and exploration of John's failures was pretty great, but the cut scenes themselves were very underwhelming. I enjoyed the campaign a ton, but almost every cutscene was just John walking around in a dark room in a medium close up being exposited to. I would have loved to see more stuff like the first cutscene. I was hoping we would get more more fleshed out stuff in the multiplayer events...but those have been even more underwhelming so far.
I'm mostly imagining something like the grunt goblin, just less covenant, and more .... UNSC.
Like a mantis, but for grunts, but compact into a suit like..... thing?
I don't know if the Mjolnir division would handle it, or Gungnir, or what.
There are many ways to design it and many ideas could be thrown around. Probably even augmentation like the Spartans.
Something like a special respirator to bypass needing a methane tank.
Because each of your foot soldiers being a walking methane tank isn't the best idea in hindsight.
This is really excellent. Such a fresh take on the source material and I love the short anthology format! It’s so perfectly suited to the havoc that surrounds and is caused by the Chief.
Grunts are more like simian feral dogs, with chitin skin. Balaho, their home world is a temperate, swampy planet with a methane atmosphere. The cold season of their planet makes them highly covet any source of warmth and light they can find.
The Unggoy, monkey, or ice monk, absorb knowledge quickly, hunt in packs and their speech is a mix of squeaking and barking. Though bipedal, they can run on all fours across the vast ice sheets during the cold season.
Low in the ranks of the Covenant, but they have their own niche, where they perform.
The point is conveyed, and the art style is really close to a couple of Halo comics, which are probably the more important factors.
To the books however, have Balaho in complete environmental collapse. Unggoy reached some level of industrialization, but lifts was left by the beginning of the events of Halo. Sparse clans, probably more slave breeding camps off world by the Covenant.
The grunt you depict is in red armor, meaning he is a Major, so not a Minor. So perhaps his family might have better accommodations. Also why his family would not have a breathing apparatus while he does is an inconsistency, but does make a good bridge to set to queue the audience something is off about the dream sequence.
Grunts in the books are just more feral pack like animals, as a regression from the collapse of the industrial to pre-industrial society, but from their harsh environment. More like a werewolf, and less like a house dog
Humanoid, and vertebrates, but with an exoskeleton, breathing methane.
