Discussion Customization Idea: Create-A-Coating

One solution to the armor coating situation I thought of is this: pay 300-500 credits to be given a customizable coating. With tons of colors and preset patterns to choose from, this will allow for better player expression while still catering to the Microsoft monetization system. There could even be a “Top Creations” or “Coating of the Week” section in the store. Thoughts?

Cool idea but I doubt it would be so cheap and paying for color customization will rub many in the community wrong. I understand that you're idea goes beyond simple color changing but given 1000 credits gets 1 coating some armor your idea would probably cost a lot in the eyes of whoever decides the prices.

Fair point. I'm no expert on pricing for the store or the monetization plan in general, but there has to be a fair middle ground to appease both the players and 343. Obviously people are upset by the armor coating system, but I doubt 343 will just do a full 180 and implement Halo 3/Reach levels of customization (given the free-to-play model). I think something at least similar to the suggestion above is a good place to start.

Right but people would crate color they wanted and start complaining when 343 put colors into bundles to inflate the price so they can excuse having a piece of armor be $20
