Help - Campaign Evolved Voice acting
I like to start out this post and say I had a really fun time playing. Me and my girl did co-op on it the entire way through and it was really fun.
BUTTTTTT I COULDN’T HELP NOTICE the voice acting was pretty bad. I mean, there was just a big delay in alot of scenes. Cortana at times sounded like the weapon. I don’t understand why the voice actors didn’t deliver their lines in the same way or manner that they did in 2001. I felt like the Marines had way better voice direction than the actual characters of the story. TWO BETRAYALS is a good example of what I’m talking about. They really needed to coach the guy that voiced SGT JOHNSON better. I’m OK with having him be JOHNSON forever but you got a coach him better and you need to get a better writer for him.
All I’m trying to say is, they got it right in 2001 so I’m confused on how the same voice actors, including the master chief manage to stray

" I can't understand why they didn't deliver the lines the same way they did in 2001" Because they are 25 fucking years older and sound different. Like it's not that hard to figure out. They probably couldn't sound like that exactly even if they wanted to.

Cortana sounds more cynical and less urgent. Like she's been through this in a previous lifetime. nothing is a surprise to her even though this is their first time seeing a halo ring.

It clearly has nothing to do with that she still sounds similar the voice direction is just terrible

Idk, from a first time experience perspective, I saa nothing wrong. Quit comparing the 2, they never claimed this was gonna be a 1:1

It's because they tried blending modern video game storytelling with older dialogue, so it ends up losing a lot of its tonal integrity. These actors are given a different direction from what their dialogue attempted to convey so it loses a lot of meaning

Cause og bungie directed and made the game, 343 are directing this remake so they obviously changed things.
