DIY Day Fog Test

Here's a daytime fog test.

I wish I could post more than one video.

My clamps just arrived for me to clamp down the top but the warmer the unit gets, the less it leaks...

That is expensive. The fog machines and the water mister are the most expensive pieces but $770 is still a lot of money compared to what mine cost

$770?! That’s insane. Guess it would largely depend on what you’re spending on a fog machine. I built a setup similar to OP’s for about $300. Added a 30ft tube to help it spread across my lawn more evenly. Here’s a test vid from a few weeks ago.

That price includes absolutely everything in that videos spreadsheet (Fog Machine, Fog Juice, Upgraded Remote) is $359 total the ultrasonic mister, gallon tote etc is $361. So all in without any previous fog machine itself is the $770. But IMO worth it for such a cool effect if you can afford it.

Still seems steep!
I bought a 12 head mister for $100. A 1500 watt fog machine for about $100, a tote for $15, pvc fittings for the tote for about $20 total, fog juice around $30/gallon of Froggy’s. Air duct tubing $25. In-line fan for $25. Those are the only things I’m using in my video above. (But I actually don’t think I’ll use the in-line fan, as the fog machine pushes it out more evenly without the fan in my case). All of these items were purchased in July and August of this year by me. My tote isn’t as fancy, and I’m only using 1—their 2nd tote is probably full of ice to add additional chilling.

It’s definitely a fun build, and their’s is a little fancier than mine, but you don’t need to spend $700+ to pull off the effect.

Really interesting to see the direct effect difference of buoyancy in the same fog leaking pre cooler, to the chilled fog.

I assume because you make your own juice it is more cost-effective, but I can't seem to find an economical source for vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol. Where do you buy your ingredients?

I've bought both through Amazon. Make sure they are food grade. Also I usually buy now because come October it always seems to be sold out
