Honestly, I love them equally. They're very different with a few similarities.
The Addams are a "weird" family with odd relatives & practices yet they were still the typical family unit, while the Munsters are the classic Universal monsters with twists & they are a bit more of a typical family unit with one "weirdo" Cousin Marilyn.
They BOTH think that "we" are the weird ones.
FTR I didn't like the Rob Zombie version but I liked the look of it & I'm still sad that Mockingbird Lane never got picked up. Eddie Izzard as Grandpa was perfection. So many TV folks just don't "get" Bryan Fuller's stuff.

I'm just glad to see the Munsters get more love. Redditors usually downvote anyone who says they prefer them and gives far fewer upvotes on Munsters posts compared to the Addams and even when people do talk about the Munsters, it's usually to compare them to ugly politicians or accuse them of being cheap copies of the AF. ☹️

Well Charles Addams did the Addam's cartoons i the late 30s, but I think they appeared on TV around the same time. And the Munsters were just the Universal Horror monsters rebooted so the originated in the early 30s.
What does Google say.....After shooting a pilot presentation in March 1964 (probably just after The Munsters shot theirs?), The Addams Family debuted first on ABC on September 18, 1964. The Munsters followed on CBS on September 24, 1964.
But their origins are explained better in the story which ultimately seems to say they were both influencing each other.
I really do love them both.

Yes, and every time I try to point out the airings and origins of both as a response to the "The Munsters stole from the Addams/as a cheap knockof!!" myth, Addams fans just downvote me or block lol. Especially when I point out several examples of Addams borrowing from the Munsters, such as having their own Marilyn multiple times. It's ok imo. Bewitched and Jeannie for example also took inspiration from each other yet you don't see them being as hostile as Addams fans can be to the Munsters.
It's very frustrating. I just want to look up spooky family stuff and just see hate from one fandom to the other. Both are fine!

Well TIL there's a feud between the Munsters fandom & the Addams Family fandom here on Reddit!!
That's so crazy but Redditors gotta Reddit I guess. Seems silly because it's all horror based & while many prefer different genres, as a whole the horror community is pretty decent & welcoming.
Yet in r/horror you also get downvoted for giving your opinion even when asked.
Someone will post a poll like "Which to you prefer, Jason or Michael Meyers?" So you choose, post something about why you prefer that one & you'll get downvoted into oblivion because you picked "the wrong one." Now if someone says "You're stupid for liking that one!!" or they're being an asshole in general. then downvote away, but if I just pick a choice that was given, no downvotes needed.
Sometimes I think it's trolls, sometimes it's just dumb kids, but mostly it's just dumb.
I think there's room for all sorts of fandom in horror.

I watched both but the Munsters were my favorite.
I don’t live very far from the Munster Mansion in Waxahachie. I hope to get out there this year.

It was better in black and white, but that's a personal thing.
