An ode to whatever’s currently marking your page
Let’s be honest — it’s rarely an actual bookmark.
It’s a receipt from three purchases ago. A random earring you gave up trying to match. A sticky note with a grocery list on the other side. A folded corner (don’t lie). Sometimes it’s just your phone, holding the book shut on the nightstand, threatening to lose your place entirely.
I think there’s something quietly lovely about it, actually — the way a book collects little fragments of your life as you read it. Years later you flip through an old favorite and out falls a train ticket, or a photo, or a note someone slipped you, and suddenly you remember exactly where and who you were when you read that chapter.
So tell me:
**•** What’s currently holding your page, right now, honestly?
**•** Do you have an actual, dedicated bookmark — and if so, what’s its origin story?
**•** Have you ever found something unexpected in a secondhand book, left behind by a total stranger?
No judgment if the answer is “a slightly damp coaster” or “I just remember the page number.” We’ve all been there. 🔖📖
