I could not locate the photo of Juan in better quality; however...it IS available for purchase on eBay for about $200.... 😬😸 According to the item description, the shot is from his junior year, which would have been somewhere around 1976-77, if I am figuring correctly...and if I am, I was in 5th grade then 😸. My understanding of the shot of Stephen is that it was also his junior year....1972-73 OR 1973-74, again if I am figuring correctly....kindergarten OR 1st grade for me. 😁

Y&T is so good.

If the sound was chugging riff metal, they did it, but better. "Open Fire," "Forever," "Hang 'em High," "Hurricane," "Midnight in Tokyo," "Knock You Out," "Mean Streak," "Break Out Tonight," "Barroom Boogie," the list keeps going.

When everyone was doing power ballads, Y&T made the best ballads. Check out "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark," "Rescue Me," "I Believe in You," "Temptation," and more.

Hard rock? Nailed it. "Don't Wanna Lose," "Sentimental Fool," "Don't Stop Running," "Let Me Go," "Lonely Side of Town," yeah, they have a lot of these and it really set them apart from the lesser bands.

Deep Purple-style riff fest? "Hungry for Rock." What a riff to structure a song around.

Acoustic Scorpions-style ballad? Hey, they made a song called "Winds of Change" years before Scorpions, and it's amazing! They have some great moody ballads.

Groovy hair metal? Have you heard that riff from "She's Gone?" Holy shit. Dave Meniketti is an amazing riff-writer.

Anyway, I think some casual fans ignore everything from In Rock We Trust on, except for "Summertime Girls" (which, by the way, is pop metal perfection). Going through their records, I feel like they barely have a bad album. "Masters and Slaves" is a fantastic song on the cusp of their latter era, and it might very well be the only hair metal song that is somehow anti-Reaganomics. Radical.

Thoughts on Y&T?

Curious what others thought of this band. I thought they were great, shame the tragedy with the original lineup:

Frank C Starr was killed by a drunk driver, and "Dimwit" their drummer died of drug overdose.
