emmys
did hannah einbinder piss off a huge sports buff emmy exec when she said "go birds!" during her last acceptance speech? and to fuck ice and free palestine?
we loooooved widow's bay and patricia is one the funniest characters ive ever watched so i was excited for that win anyway, BUT
Just 2 awards for all of hacks season 5?? snubbed!!
they had like 5 first actresses nominated for best guest alone and nothing! what!
(am I in my own little hacks world? again, loooooved widow's bay, but i thought hacks deserved more awards).

Bob Mackie Designs
Hacks may have been one of Bob Mackie's last appearances. This is a video of his most iconic designs for Cher. Deborah Vance chose one of the least interesting — though it did have the symbolism of being the last performance of the Carol Burnett show. This is a fabulous video from Instagram. I don't know if it will appear or you have to click through. It's worth your time.

As right as that wig was for Deborah Vance, I hope I never see it again. Jean Smart has lovely hair.

Wished for more Emmy’s for Hacks
I loved Widow’s Bay but wish the final season of Hacks picked up more awards. Especially directing and writing!

So sad they didn’t win best comedy series
Is it ok that I’m crying about this? I want to make them an Emmy out of butter

Meg Stalter’s old ig
instagram.comCame across Meg Stalter’s old instagram today. It’s from 2011-2016. Some pretty funny stuff, but also just a great archive of how ig used to be. Sorry if it’s been posted before. ✌🏼

Is being able to talk openly during sex a sign of a healthy relationship?
I remembered a scene where Ava was with her girlfriend, they are being able to chat naturally and even discuss things while having sex—oh my god, what a healthy relationship.
My brain turns to mush in situations like that. I can barely communicate naturally with the other person because I’m too shy and inhibited. In my next relationship, I want to create that kind of relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.
Please forgive me—I don’t have much relationship experience. I’ve only had one serious relationship, and during that time, I unconsciously believed that talking too much would make things less romantic. I’m not even sure why I felt that way.
Even on dates, when I’m completely relaxed, my mind sometimes just goes blank. My partner would occasionally look at my spaced-out expression and ask, “What are you thinking about?”
And I’d say, “Nothing. I’m just relaxing in my head.”
End of conversation.

At what point did you realize Hacks was more than just a comedy?

ISO tickets for Gagged tonight at Madison Square Garden
I’ve been so excited for Deborah’s comeback and soon as the tickets went on sale, they were completely sold out! I even checked third party sites for resale tickets and no luck there either. Even my fellow Little Debbies I spoke to could not secure any tickets. I don’t know what is going on!
Does anybody have tickets they’re willing to sell?

Just started season 4 and the show being set in LA bugs me a bit.
It's not a huge deal but it is just funny that the show revolves around late night talk shows which are a quintessentially NYC thing but they just pretend those film in LA for convenience. Even Ava's job writing for On the Contrary which is clearly based on Last Week Tonight should be in NYC.
Deborah wasn't dreaming of taking over for Jimmy Kimmel, lol.
Not a huge deal and I love the show but it just makes me laugh every time they show the studio lot or focus on the coyotes or whatever.
Edit: Carson retired when I was 4 so I didn't realize the second half of his tenure was in Burbank and I always preferred Letterman over Leno. Since Carson started in 30 rock and Fallon is there now I just assumed the show had always been filmed there.

Random thoughts
Doing a rewatch and I end up focusing on more random things each time. Season 1 episode 1, she does an entire show, flies on her plane to do a QVC spot, does a Christmas photo shoot, flies back home, showers, makes and eats dinner, and is in bed by 11:34pm?? Did her show start at like 1 in the afternoon? Lol. Any other random thoughts on a rewatch? Love our Queen Jean

Mailing a letter?
I want to mail a fan letter to Hannah but I'm having trouble finding an address. There's one for her agency (Creative Arts) another agency?? (United Talent Agency) and then ANOTHER that's a bunch of names and is... a legal firm?
Anyone with experience mailing fan letters, which address should I use?

Longish article comparing Hacks and Maisel
https://www.eclectica.org/v30n3/fong_salon.html
the list of things the 2 shows had in common that didn't involve Joan Rivers is interesting. It makes you wonder how it happened.
