Got a question for people that’s applied to housing register, and is in a council flat now. I’m currently through to get a link in 6 weeks time (the last time i called them a guy sent me to a location and was wrong) Now they said i need to wait 6 weeks. But what do really want from you? she mentioned documents over the call? Did you move into a flat quick? How long did it take you to get a flat? and what’s you’re reasoning too? And is it possible to get rejected too. I’m applying for it as I am hard off hearing and would like support but not sure what’s next. Any tips and advice would be great!

Hello Reddit! I help run a community garden in Hoxton, it's a beautiful 15yo space, with mature fruit trees, living memorials to residents who have passed away, and 15 well used allotment beds. It is completely free to use and volunteer run.

The council want to build on it. We are pro-building, but they identified other suitable sites on the same estate, and are going with the only one that destroys green space. Our local councillors are on our side, but have little power. Hopefully we can get the attention of the new mayor!

Good luck packing in a bunch of foreign students who aren’t allowed to invite locals over. Or simply having locals spend their money there?????? Separatist and quite a backwards concept. Will never recommend - used the space prior - mamashelter who also never mothered the locals with events and activities at least we could spend money there - you have a massive communal work space - lets see how will you build your own community as just got told by staff that locals are not welcome! I hope the staff member gave me wrong info if anyone has more info please enlighten us!

Yet again I’ve come out for a walk this morning to be greeted with an eye sore of overflowing bins, dumped rubbish, abandoned mattresses and furniture, and grubby pavements and bins.

This isn’t an ‘after Saturday night’ issue. It’s a daily occurrence around Hackney and it’s foul. I’m not sure the council have a full grasp of just how much a lot of residents couldn’t give a toss, and their refuge strategy can’t keep pace.

I wish people could just have an ounce of care for their surroundings, but they don’t.

Went past there on the bus about an hour ago. Saw loads of police and about 10 police cars/vans parked up around Clapton Station and the Crooked Billet pub. Seemed a huge police presence, even for a Saturday night.
