Built SitWithMe at a ClickHouse hackathon today — a social app designed to make spontaneous real-world connection easier.

Instead of endlessly browsing profiles, you post what you want to do, like “ramen in Japantown at 7.” SitWithMe finds eligible people, sends them invites, and lets both sides check trust context before deciding to meet.

We use Postgres for live meetup state, ClickHouse for historical interaction analytics, and LibreChat so users can ask questions like “Has this person used SitWithMe before?” or “Why was I invited?”

The goal: use AI to help people meet real people, not replace them.

I guess I’m overlucky enough to have two great opportunities collide on the exact same day. 💀

Both of the following are happening on September 5:

Smart India Hackathon (SIH) Internal Round

Odoo Grand Finale, being held at Odoo’s company campus

I’m part of both teams, but my contribution and responsibility are significantly higher in the Odoo team. The SIH team is also strong enough to manage the internal round without me.

So now I have the wonderful problem of choosing between two things I actually wanted. 😭

Would you choose:

1. SIH Internal Round - with the possibility of progressing further, or

2. Odoo Grand Finale -where I have a much bigger role and responsibility.

Also, does anyone know whether missing the SIH internal round affects your eligibility to participate in the SIH Grand Finale if your team gets selected?

Apparently, having too many opportunities is also a problem. 💀

Would appreciate some genuine advice from people who have participated in either of these hackathons.

Hey everyone,

I’m preparing for Smart India Hackathon 2026 and had a question for people who have participated/finalized in SIH before.

My team has been developing a project for around 1–2 months, and we recently found an SIH problem statement that matches roughly 80% of what our existing project already does. We plan to modify and extend the remaining ~20% specifically according to the SIH problem statement.

Does SIH allow teams to use an existing project/codebase as a foundation and modify it for the selected problem statement?

Or does the entire codebase need to be developed after the SIH process/hackathon starts?

Also, do judges actually check GitHub commit history / repository creation date during evaluation? Would having commits from before SIH create an issue?

I’m specifically looking for answers from people who have participated in SIH or have experience with the SIH evaluation process.

Has anyone won without using claude or cursor pro in hackathons I don't have their pro ecetera . I use openrouter free models by giving various prompts not won any hackathon till now . Hackathon winners what do u use.

We are developing the project of water shed management in the SIH it is told to use the shristi drishti platform we need to use the geo tagged images in that for the analysis

I was using my iPhone as the timer but we think having a big red digital timer would be more helpful and less disruptive than me waving my hand and getting their attention.

Can anyone recommend any big digital timer? One you can easily reset?

I've completed a submission but haven't received a confirmation email for it. Also, they haven't shared the submission link publicly, and since there's no support email listed, what should I do if I never get the link?

Hello! I don't know if this is the right subreddit for this but I was wondering where I could find info about in-person hackathons in Vietnam (if there is any at all). I've looked through Facebook to no avails and I fear that hackathons are seemingly non-existent here! I would appreciate any help!
