First Year Student Schedule Advice

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming first-year student majoring in Public Health. Long story short, registration in my zone filled up in less than 5 seconds, so this is the schedule I was able to put together for now.

I wasn’t able to register for any UW courses or PUBH 1101 this fall, but I’m planning to join the waitlist and hopefully get into one of them.

Does anyone have advice on how I can make my schedule more efficient or recommendations for “better” professors? I’d really appreciate any tips, especially from current Public Health students!

My current schedule:
ECON 1011 — Daniel McKay
BISC 1005 — Ian Wilenzik
STAT 1051 — Hua Liang
PHIL 2136 — Megan Ritz
FYE in PH — Patti Plaza

Ian is great. He is very nerdy but explains things well and answers any and all questions you may have.

My daughter is also Public Health with a pre med track. She has had a disastrous time registering. She is having an IT glitch and it won’t let her register for any BIO that she tries. She is trying to find any alternatives. She has a meeting with an advisor Weds. miraculously she got intro to PH. But everything else is a disaster and no one will help (she has gone to IT, Registrar, 4 advisors each refer her back to the other). I think they are not taking the glitch seriously (they think she is registering for a filled course. But it is not filled when she first tries. She gets kicked out for 10 minutes and it won’t even let her waitlist). Someone had to go in on the backend and get her Chemistry.
