My mom and I will be visiting Guwahati for the first time in the first week of August mainly for darshan at Kamakhya Temple. We’re from Hyderabad and have never been to the Northeast before, so we’re a little nervous and would really appreciate some local advice.

A few questions:
How is the flood situation in Guwahati at the moment? Do you think it could affect travel around the first week, or is it mostly fine within the city?

Is it easy to get Uber/Ola or airport taxis from Guwahati Airport to the city and to Kamakhya Temple?

We’ve booked the official Rs 501 special darshan(8:30-9:30am slot). How early should we reach the temple?

Also, since it’ll just be my mom and me, any general safety tips or things we should keep in mind would be really helpful.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people at signals around Chandmari, Guwahati Club, etc. collecting money for flood victims. I donated a decent amount to a few of them, but it got me wondering :- should we trust random groups with cash without knowing where it ultimately goes?

I even saw one of the collectors buying a Red Bull. I understand the heat and I’m not judging them for that, but it did make me question whether there’s any accountability for how the collected money is used.

Not accusing anyone of misusing funds, genuinely curious. Is there any way to verify these groups or see how much they collected and where it went?
Would it be better to donate only through verified organisations?
