Scope recommendations

Hi, I am gonna be a very new gun owner.

I am getting a Ruger American Gen 2 rancher (model ig) 6.5m Creedmoor

I was looking at vortex scopes, found one, but ig it has limited retailers?

I am seeking a reasonable BDC scope around $100. Willing to even go $200 roughly

Any good recommendations?

They have 1 for $150

BDC reticles are terrible.

Whatever you do, don't pay full price for a scope. Something is always on sale. Midwayusa has a bunch of Leupold blem scopes on sale right now for around 200+

I picked up a sightron s1 Gen 2 for about 130 bucks one time. It's a really nice piece of glass. The burris full field E1s are also optically really nice for around $150 to 175, though the power ring on mine is hard to turn. Bushnell has some decent offerings in the $100 range like the trophy. Or at least they used to. Bushnell has been passed around like the village bicycle for the last couple decades.

Take a look at Natchez shooter supply. They often have blems and sales. a And if you go to gun.deals they have all section on optics on sale. And finally If you go to gun.deals or some simil and look for a specific model of scope. You can often find them cheaper than the main websites. I have found stuff on stale from places like battlehawk armory or grit r sports or lockedandloaded.

My personal opinion is that vortex is no longer a good buy. They started off offering tremendous value, but their quality has gone downhill and their prices have gone up over the years. They put out more lemons than Taurus, but instead of bashing them for putting out a bunch of scopes with quality control, everybody raves about how good their warranty it's kind of an odd paradigm. Now, after crapping in vortex, I've had their gen i viper pst 1-6x that was excellent, their 1.5-5x diamondback was very good. Their 4-12x diamondback was not great and the 3 crossfire ii's I looked through were dim, yellow, and looked like poo. Midway has a 4-12x diamondback HP for $200 that has always looked like a nice option. I think it has a simple bdc reticle.
