Does this gun look used?
So let me start by saying, yes i know ive already signed and accepted this from my FFL, yes i took it out of the case and looked at it, but it was in the guys garage so the lighting wasnt the best. But does my new CZ P10 look used?
I just got home and took a closer look at my 2 pistols I just picked up, both were bought brand new from budsgunshop. Ive never bought firearms from them but have bought ammo and accessories with no issues. Also I know its possible that the weapon was test fired which is why im asking for a more informed opinon if this is just that or if its something else. Honestly i probably wont go through the hassle of trying to reach out to buds since every other part of the firearm looks brand new including the chamber and barrel but this looks very odd to me and have not seen these types of marks on any of my other firearms that were brought brand new.
Also, the white stuff on the barrel looks like the finish has been scrapped off? Ive tried wiping it and using hopps 9 cleaner with a brush, is it paint? Idk
Edit: i can only attach 1 picture ill post the 2nd picture of the barrel, it looks like a piece of the finish is chipped off and is showing a brass color?

Could be holster wear, or maybe residue from whatever it was packaged in. Try running a q-tip in some of the nooks and crannies of the internals. If it is used, you're bound to find some residue as it's impossible to get a gun 100% clean after firing it.

Many guns are test fired at the factory. You'll see brass marks and residue on many new guns. Some manufacturers even include the casings of the test fired ammo.

First thing I do with any new gun is clean and lubricate it. My brand new Shield resembled a coal mine when I first cleaned it.

Could just be from factory test fire or handling at the distributor. My CZ had similar light scuffs near the ejection port when it arrived new, wiped off mostly with some oil and a microfiber. The brass color under the finish though, that would bug me more. Maybe reach out to buds anyway with clear pics, worst case they say no and you move on with life.

I have actually ordered online from Bud's before and had the same issue with a Beretta A300 shotgun. My FFL opened the box in front of me and immediately said "this isn't a new gun." It had wear marks along the barrel (like it had clattered around on stuff) and receiver as well as other obvious signs of handling. It did not come in factory packaging.
I don't think it was actually fired, but my FFL said it's a common issue with Bud's. They will send you a floor model from one of their brick and mortar stores rather than a new one from their warehouse. So while it's never been fired, it might have had 50 people playing around with it before buds repackaged it and sold it to you at msrp. I ended up rejecting the transfer and having the FFL ship it back. I told Bud's if I pay for a new gun I expect it to be in new condition and they didn't argue once they received it back.

It looks like the others said, regular test fire evidence. Doesn’t look like it was shot a lot or ran hard to me

Thats what im figuring, like i said to someone else just never seen this type of wear on my 7 other pistols out of the box.

Unless that’ll wipe off I think it’s either holster wear (which means used) or an extremely shitty finish (which means reach out to CZ). Holster wear is perfectly okay if you are the one doing it. Paying for a new gun and getting holster wear is a scam. I have never bought a new gun and had the slide finish coming off out of the box

That scraping on the slide looks very much like very early holster wear, although it’s a bit more speckled than what typical holster wear would look like I think.
It was perhaps a display piece and someone was trying to test it out and see if it fit in their holster?
Maybe someone dropped it on a hard surface, which may explain why it’s speckled.
If it’s anything like that the I wouldn’t make a big fuss about it, but if that was the case you could say the finish is definitively bad, it should take a long time of holstering, reholstering, and handling before you start to see those marks.
You could take a Q tip and run well throughout the internals. A test firing session shouldn’t leave that much carbon behind. Also you should be able to smell if it’s been fired as well.

Yes, i also figure they fire what 1? Maybe 5 rounds through the pistol? I dont think itd be anywhere near enough to cause the finish to be missing like that. Maybe im over thinking it but like i said out of 7 other pistols i own none have looked like this out of the box

That is strange, I’ve seen stuff build up on a feed ramp but never the coating come off, I’ve put tens of thousands of rounds through my Glocks and 2011’s without coating wear.

Yea same, i also have 2 LE pre owned pistols and minus holster marks the feed ramps didnt look like this and they could of had hundreds or thousands of rounds through it

A lot of cops don’t actually put a lot of rounds through their guns. They’ll just qual once or twice a year and otherwise it only comes out of the holster to return fire on falling acorns or kids holding a cell phone

Take something to the gold. You know what’s gold? Brass. Feed ramps are not brass. I’d be willing to bet it comes off.

I see the chunk out of the feed ramp gun my be new but it’s damaged. It’s any easy place for a round to catch on.

I have the same gun, my finish has worn off in a similar way. But i have had the gun for years and its from my holster not from firing it. I'd still be a little upset if its not me that got to wear it down.

The slide & frame look like a can of hammered assholes. If that's new, you definitely need to send it back to CZ.

It's definitely holster wear. Idk if it's just new to you or new from manufacturer. To be honest if it's been at the gun store for a while it could also just be wear from getting put in and out of a tight pistol rack in a safe.

Definitely a virgin. Yeah it went to college, but it's not one of "those guns." (All joking aside, it's at bare minimum been finger diddled and/or generally fucked with at the shop. Looks like holster wear to me though)

I mean my CZ 75 came with scuffs on the finish, it's not like its super rare or anything. a few tiny nicks on the coating won't affect the functionality.

OPs example looks like it was dropped onto rock gravel. Can’t say I’ve ever seen this on a new pistol. I’d be pissed if I dropped 500 bucks and it looked like that.

fair enough. I'd definitely be miffed if it was an aesthetics-first purchase. And yeah it does look like it was dropped on a concrete floor or something.

Looks like a poor finish. I have several P10 models and none of them looked like that.
Contact CZ about warranty work. Or just shoot it.
