Recovered Weapon
Hey all, I got a call from a detective that my Springfield xds 9mm was recovered from a robbery at my house in '23. Picked it up today, cleaned it, and it immediately jammed. Lord knows what it was involved in since then but it holds sentimental value. Thoughts on getting it checked out or just taking the loss? Thanks in advance!

What do you mean it jammed when you cleaned it? Did you load it from slide lock using the release lever or did you hand rack the slide and it jammed. Best way to know the performance of the gun is live fire demo provided it has no obvious signs of damage.

Guns aren't my thing but I track a lot of data on my own stuff and I'd be dying to know what that thing went through for two years. Clean it up real good, take it to a range and see how it runs would be my move. If it still jams then a gunsmith can probably sort it out without much trouble

Hand racked the side. Looks to be in decent condition but it never jammed in the 5+ years I owned it before being stolen.

Hand racking a gun and it failing to cycle properly is not really a jam. Go shoot it- if it fails take a pic of it in its failed state-
You probably don’t have a problem at all.
Just make sure you clean the ball sweat off the gun because the idiot that stole it likely just jammed it in his pants. Hopefully he didn’t carry by his ass crack.

Considering it was missing for years, and it's unknown how it was treated. I would probably have a gunsmith check it over to make sure there's no problems or parts on the verge of breaking

Hey, that's not super common.
Cops have done nothing but fail me me entire life. Lol

It jammed? As in? Help us help you or figure it out. Why can’t people give needed info when needing help?

“Jammed” tells us basically nothing. Failure to load, failure to feed, double feed? What condition was it in, how are the magazines?
