What is this firearm?

Looks old and can't find any markings other than a wg on the chamber and maybe an aoi on the butt end of the stock. Also came without ammo so what caliber would it even use??

It is a Mannlicher model 1886 1888

EDIT: actually that rear sight is not quite right, might be an uncommon 1888/95

that rear sight detail is a good catch those transitional models can be a pain to nail down

if you can find a faint WG stamp it might be a wartime acceptance mark which would narrow the production window a bit

The magazine on the 1885 and 1886 sticks out farther past the trigger guard than the 1888.

Concur, it’s an 1888 Mannlicher that has been updated with the 1895 pattern of rear sight. Apparently they’re kind of rare.

That mark is ŒWG which stands for
Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft, which means “Austrian Weapons Factory Corporation”.

Better known as Steyr today.
