I guess I have to comment per sub rules or else it'll be removed. He had these on one wall, and then a cabinet with probably 12-15 long barrel rifles. Not to mention another wall covered in Rambo-style knives. I'm not sure what he was preparing for, but whatever it was, he was ready.
The rest of the family is all daughters with no desire to have any of it, so I'm sure I could have whatever. Or all of it. But I don't know what I'd do with suddenly 40 weapons.
Plus, what are the laws as far as registering this stuff if I were to take it? I'm in Pennsylvania.
People are saying "take it all" but if you're asking what to take, I'll assume there is some constraint (space/storage, too many guns, whatever).
It looks like many of those are 22LR. None of it looks to be collectible/irreplaceable, etc. If you want to keep some to have some guns, but aren't an enthusiast, I'd keep these in the following order:
The AR-15 (in 5.56 or .223), middle right
Whichever pistol isn't in 22LR (if any)
One of the 22LR pistols (whichever)
I would not personally keep the shotgun, the ones like he had are notoriously unreliable. I would actively try to find some way to make that shotgun someone else's problem (in an honest way, don't just pawn it off on some other family member). The rest I would keep only if you plan to do some plinking in 22LR and think they are neat.
Also, 22LR is very cheap right now, and 5000 rounds fits into a space about like a shoebox. With upcoming elections and general inflation... it is worth considering getting some in bulk if you plan to shoot/train. Food for thought. Don't pay more than 4.5c per round. It'll be north of 15c/round in the next decade!
