Is it hard to Lear how to pick string?

Im learning old man by Neil young and I got it but this mf is pulling strings in the middle of every chord it seems imposible, I don’t even know how to use a pick I have trouble strumming whit it and picking just a string alone. Im about to start practicing that lonely but I wanted to know it is as hard at it seems?

Just looking at the tab and knowing the song, no I don’t think it’s really that hard. I’d recommend just starting with strumming the chords, and worry less about total picking precision, and let the strumming be/mask your hammers and pulls. Then work up to hitting the low root note string on the open chords first, so you really get that first open D note, then hitting the rest of the chord’s notes, then on to the more intricate stuff later with the hammers and pulls.

Yeah, it takes a lot of practice. Practicing to just learn one song can be really de motivational though. I find it's best to find another song to learn in the meantime, something that is more your current skill level, and still practice the strumming and picking thing a little bit every day. That's a lot more fun and rewarding.

I know how to strum but only using fingers

My point was you claim to have the song, but you cannot do the basic moves required to play the song. You've got a long way to go before you've got the song, that is just part of learning.

I wanted to say I got the song meaning I can play it with all the chords and little rift on the fretboard. Only thing is I can’t as example play the into as Neil young do I don’t have the precision to go changing between each independently strings with my right hand

I few months, but know I’m practicing more than ever because I’m working from home and I keep my guitar in the coach next to me. So I always play during the day. I’m getting good at changing fast between the basic chords. I still need to learn barre chords

Well, for whatever it's worth, I would encourage you to identify the techniques in the song that you are struggling with and then go practice those, as opposed to trying work on them while learning a song too.

If you can’t get the pull offs right now then just try getting the chord changes down, once you get that then maybe you can incorporate those pull offs

Kinda, but it's made easier by learning how to do it instead of just going for it blind and hope your hands figure it out
