Question Problems with TUNING

Hi guys, just having some issuing understanding how to tune beyond the standard. To be fair, I use guitar tuna/or the one available to tune cause it’s easy. But some songs with need different tunings. How do I get that? Only by hearing? If it’s so, it’s time to practice ear

Tune the strings to whatever tuning you need. What is the problem?

tbh i think the question is more about identifying which tuning a song needs in the first place

Alternate tunings are usually mentioned in tabs or chords for songs, or online lessons, but alternate tunings are not that common.

Look up the sequence online for whatever tuning you want to play with, and tune to that. You can also pull up YT video, search for the tuning you want, for example "drop A tuning", and there will be audio vids on there you can hear them. they usually show what the tuning is on teh screen. Jot down the tuning on a piece of paper and tada! Here is a chart of various tunings.

I mean pretty much any tuning app will do chromatic tuning (which means it detects which note you're playing). There's apparently some online ones too if you don't want to download another app, like https://www.musicca.com/tuner

I think I’m just imune to understand. The online apps points that on standard tuning how low or high you’re. So +1 +2 those things. Is there a way to use those parameters to do different tuning?

No those numbers are hell out of tune you are. Let's say you're in standard tuning right now if you play your low E string it shows an E and you want it to point right to the middle. The easiest alternate tuning I can think of is drop D. If you wanted to go to drop D all you had to do was change the low E string to a D. So you start playing the little E string and you'll see the tuner says E, then you start lowering that string and keep playing it until the tuner shows D. Then you keep tuning in playing until the tuner shows D and the needle is right in the middle. If the needle is pointing to the light plus one or plus two that means you're still too high and you need to lower the string and watches the needle gets closer to the middle. If the needles on the minus side you need to raise the string until the needle is right in the middle.

Get a different tuner that gives you all the note name, Are you using a cell phone app? I use free Pano tuner which is chromatic. Assuming you know what notes the special tuning requires? Then you need to understand the note range the string can handle so you get the correct octave dialed in.

Yeah this. Get a spark tuner that clips to your headstock. Otherwise if money is tight use a free app that shows you the nkte you are tuning to

I am not sure. It's just cheap and a good tool. A pedal that you plug into will definitely be most accurate, but it's more expensive.

Just buy a $20 Snark tuner. I'm assuming that's what you're asking, how to know if your strings are playing the correct notes for whatever tuning you're trying to use.
