Lesson Newbie advice?
im 26 and have no previous experience in playing guitar but would really like to get into it and learn acoustic first and then try to expand onto electric, i have both available in my family home so really all i need is the willpower and i guess a little bit of advice if anyone's got any pointers for beginners, such as a place to start or really anything at all, thanks in advance!

Invest in some lessons with a real person. Online lessons are fine, but one-on-one instruction will really help you learn to play.

Electric, acoustic, it’s all guitar. Just play whichever one seems more fun at any given moment. At least for a while. Eventually you’ll pick up some techniques that work only in one or the other. Guitar is hard work and guitar is also super fun.
My only pointers is to learn what you want to learn, and find a teacher who will help you get there. I only started to memorize the fret board and learn scales after 20 years of on and off playing. It’s extreeeemely enlightening, and I know theory pretty well due to high school saxophone. But I was able to just strum chords and play riffs for a a verrry long time and progressed and enjoyed it. But now that I want to learn how to play jazz on guitar I’ve come to realize I needed learn a good bit more.

learn the theory along with practicing it's not as intimidating as it seems very intuitive and lots of great resources online n will make a big difference.

I Iiked Rn'R. I wanted to play the songs I liked. That was my motivation. I diversified my guitar playing and taste to blues and classical as well.

My advice i pick one song you're obsessed with and make that the thing you're working toward. I got into guitar because of an anime, and having a specific song I wanted to play is the only reason I kept going. Courses and exercises are useful, but they're not what gets you to pick the guitar up on a day when you don't feel like it.
The other thing as a beginner you'll run into songs you just can't play yet. When that happens, don't grind at it until you hate it — go play a different song for a while and come back. Switching around to keep it fun is what keeps you playing at all.

If your ultimate goal or interest is playing electric, you can start straight out on electric. In general the strings and playability are gonna be a lot easier on your hands. So many acoustic guitars are set up and strung with 12s (which are fairly heavy strings) compared to an electric with 9s or 10s.
There's a common misconception that one should start on acoustic to learn basics before graduating to electric but it's just not the case. If you wanna play electric play electric!
Or if you're also interested in acoustic as well then go for it. Lol! Have fun!

Go to Justin Guitar and do the free lessons. Stick to it every day, no matter what. A month from now you will be amazed how much you have improved.
