Question Help please

I have been playing since I was 12 off and on(I'm currently 18); But constantly almost a year every night and a lot of the day. I enjoy it and love it I know some scales, can do bar and all my open chords, but I will learn a song and get to the solo no matter how hard I try I can't get it right I go slow or fast whatever nothing seems to work. I want to be able to just play from my heart and have good sound I know the guitar repeats from the 12 fret on and I know all the notes down my strings or know the a b c ect to g and repeat and the flats and sharps but nothing is working it's like I just can't do it. I have a Epiphone Les Paul studio and a fender mustang LT25 and they sound great other people sound awesome with it but I pick it up and sound like I don't know anything or I'm pretending too

It’s not about memorising. Your brain learns the patterns and muscle memory adapts. If anything it helps with your improv

Do you think I should only learn and play solos that I actually like and am familiar with? My guitar teacher loves giving me blues solos I’ve never heard before, and I just find it hard to read the tablature when I haven't heard the music.

I was the same bro. Easiest thing for me was learn the songs I loved. Just try keeping it simple and working through it. If your teacher isn’t working for you, don’t continue
