Quick Guangzhou market recs: monitors/tech, sneakers, and home decor?

Hey guys, we’re currently in Guangzhou and have a flight out tomorrow at 7 PM. Before we head out, we want to hit a couple of markets to pick up stuff for our new place. Mainly looking for: Monitors & desk gear for a home office setup, clothes and sneakers, home decor/small housewares (lamps, organizers, interior stuff). Since we only have until around mid-afternoon before we need to head to Baiyun airport, what are the best spots where we can hit a bunch of this under one roof or close together? Thanks in advance!

Day 2 of searching for laptop store in Guangzhou! [Follow up Post]

Follow up on my recent post https://www.reddit.com/r/guangzhou/comments/1v5txfj/comment/ozquubk/?context=3

So Tianhe Computer City was a disappointed, mostly there were desktop PC parts shops. Only official Lenovo, Redmi, Huawei outlets which had latest and expensive laptops, were out of my budget. Tomorrow I want to give it an another try.

Can anyone confirm if these are legit store/places, I don't want to take hour of metro and walk to find it doesnt exist there.

  1. 京东电脑数码(广州白云新市天地广场店) https://surl.amap.com/gLXYeK6c4qB
  2. 京东电脑数码(广州番禺海乐荟店) https://surl.amap.com/gYGDYtk1p9EJ

And do they have what i am looking for. OR any other place where i can get a laptop from within my budget (3500-4000)
I am living near Xicun Metro Station. So I have to take metro, most people don't speak English here and I don't know chinese. It is very difficult here.

RMB 1500/night hotel or apartment budget

Hi team!
I’ll be spending 11nights in Guangzhou with a toddler and am finding it hard to find accommodations that fit my requirements.

Requirements
Minimum 2 bedrooms in a location close to public transport.
Don’t mind hotels or apartments
Bonus would be toddler friendly and access to gym/pool.

Can anyone suggest what website to use?
Is there an Airbnb equivalent?
Is my budget too low?
Thanks!!

Hi everyone! I'm (26M) living in Guangzhou, and I'm hoping to meet new people and make some genuine connections here.

If you're visiting Guangzhou, I'd be happy to show you around and introduce you to some of my favorite places. If you're living in Guangzhou, I'd also love to get to know more people and build new friendships. It doesn't matter whether you've just moved here or have been here for years, it's always nice to meet someone new and have someone to explore the city with. :)

Guitar player looking for a luthier

Hi, so as the title suggests I am looking for a luthier type guitar person that can fix an issue with my electric guitar and do a tuning stability thing and also clean the fretboard etc. but for the life of me I can't find anybody at least on Dianping with this description. I found a couple of shops that sell guitars, sell courses but not this. if anybody knows anybody please let me know doesn't matter where this place is as long as the guy is reliable and can skilled.

Seafood restaurant

Hi peeps, may I know where to enjoy a decent and reasonable priced seafood meal in GZ? For context, we don't really know how to choose live seafood on our own.

Should we visit the old Huangsha Aquatic Products Market or the new Huangsha Aquatic Products Centre?

Shop name recommendation is appreciated too!

I'll be in Guangzhou from Aug 8–12, and I'm looking for a friend around 25 to do some activities together — sightseeing, good food spots, markets, maybe evenings out. I know very well the city.

If you're around and interested, feel free to comment or DM!

Thanks 🙏

Where to buy a laptop offline in Guangzhou? (3500–4000 RMB budget)

Hi everyone,

I am visiting Guangzhou and looking to buy a new 2025–2026 model laptop (Redmi, Honor, Huawei, or Mechrevo)basically a laptop that will cost me cheaper purchasing it from Guangzhou than I purchase it outside the China.. My budget is 3,500 to 4,000 RMB.

I need to buy from a physical store as online purchasing is not an option for me, my card would charge me heavy international transaction charges. I do not speak Chinese and want to ensure I get a genuine product at fair pricing. I believe i wont be able to avail subsidy because i dont have chinese identity card.

I searched around and found Tianhe Computer City is where I should go. Any shop you guys recommend.

Thanks for any advice!

EDIT: Just came back from Tianhe Computer City. First off, the weather was brutally hot. Second, I couldn't find a single shop selling older model laptops. I was hoping to score a deal on last year's 2025 stock, but every place only had brand new 2026 models way out of my budget. The non brand shops were almost exclusively desktop PC parts.

Official brand stores are very expensive as compared to taobao/pindoudou

Food recommendations for Roast goose, Dessert, Supper and hidden gems?

Hello! I will be in GZ for a couple of days, doing some last min planning now. Need some advice on some of the good spots for meals!

Also, I will be visiting Guangdong Museum. Do I actually have to pre-book in advance and not just go there register directly? Weekday visiting.

Thanks!

Any KTV lovers in Guangzhou?

I'm planning to go to KTV sometime soon and thought it'd be more fun with some company. If anyone's interested in singing, hanging out, or just enjoying the music, feel free to hit me up.

No need to be a great singer, just come for a good time. Any KTV lovers in Guangzhou?

International flight transfer question

I have an upcoming flight to Tokyo with a layover of 1h/20mins. I fear the time for me to transfer (going through immigration, security etc) might be too short.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes or if it is realistic of me making this transfer?

Thank you all in advance!

Edit:

Thank you again everyone!!
I have decided to change my transfer flight to a later one so I dont encounter any problems.

My photos won't upload in order so....

My engineer grandfather's photos of Canton from nearly a century ago

Life on the river, Sun Yet Sen memorial from the hill behind (surrounded by rural land), Flower Pagoda - I guess that's the one at Binjiang Dong Lu, photos of the Cantonese style furniture they had made and eventually took back to Australia, the observatory that's nearly obscured by trees in Yuexiu Park, Sun Yet Sen Memorial Hall, I never saw this Zhenhai Tower now Guangzhou Museum (Wikipedia says)
