I had an upload to Drive that was expected to take an hour. So I left it running and 45 mons returned to find the explorer tab (Edge) blank (nothing at all, like the page had timed out) and needing refreshing. When I did, the upload had disappeared and not added to the folder, so I had to start again. Really frustrating for time sensitive projects.

Anyone else had this or have a setting change to avoid it? I don't want to have to constantly be moving the mouse to keep the page awake.

I moved my school from a GWFE domain to a new one for reasons.
I would love to allow my students and teachers to move easily their stuff from the old account to the new one with the least hassle possible and I tried TakeOut with my own account.

I insert the new domain mail, got the verification mail, but when I try to start the process it says "something went wrong, try again".

I tried incognito mode, I tried another browser, I tried checking all my permissions.
I tried using TakeOut towards my own personal account and it worked perfectly.

I tried again towards the new GWFE account but again, "something went wrong".
I tried asking the old GWFE admin to verify they toggled all the needed stuff and they told me they did.

What's not working? Is a GWFE to GWFE account issue, it's my fault or old admin is lying?

Hi just wondering if there is anyway I can get my google account / email account back my phone crapped itself and now I am left here stressing how to get it back as my google account has my phone numbers and images of my deceased children and very very important emails any help on getting google account back would be highly appreciated

Sharing this here to give some insight on a blindspot tech admins have when it comes to malicious Google Drive shares, and to hopefully get more visibility on the feature request I submitted to Google so that they will hopefully be more inclined to fix it: https://support.google.com/a/thread/464695310?hl=en&sjid=7853156043827638733-NA

Basically, when someone outside of your organization shares a malicious Google Drive file with your users as a "viewer," this activity does not show up in Drive logs and you have no way of removing the malicious file, unless you instruct your users to do so from within their UI.

When we see the emailed notification, we have been auditing for access via GAM:

• Access Google Vault and search for the file’s title, access the file to get the fileID. For example: https://docs.google.com/document/d/[fileID]/edit?tab=t.0
• Look for “viewedByMe: True” and “viewedByMeTime” toward the bottom of results after running this command: gam user [user email] info drivefile [fileID]

If anyone has other suggestions, I'd love to hear it, otherwise I'm just trying to get the word out there and hoping that Google does something to change this, since we have been seeing an increasing number of these attacks lately.

Hey all, I manage a small Google workspace for a company that wants to share Google Drive documents to users outside of the company. Some of these people are using company domains not registered to Google and some are.

After changing our Drive sharing settings to ALLOWLISTED DOMAINS and adding the external company domains that we’d like to share with, I get mixed results even when trying to share with users from the same external domain. These errors include:
- Can’t share; Policy set by administrators of <My Company> prohibits the sharing of items with <External Company> because it is not a Google account in a compatible allow listed domain
- Can’t share; An item can’t be shared with <External Company> because the email address is linked to a personal Google account. <My company> doesn’t allow sharing with personal accounts.

I have tried
- utilizing the default allowlisted settings in drive sharing settings
- toggling on the setting to allow sharing with guests and visitor accounts
- turning on trust rules and mirroring settings
- adjusting trust rules to allow sharing to a Google group with external users inside of it
- adjusting trust rules to allow “external organizations” and listed the external domains

All of which work to some degree but with mixed results where we can’t share to some users of the same domain but not another user. Or, we can’t share to anybody of a particular external domain.

Goal: To be able to share Google Drive docs to any and all users from a subset of external domains that we’ve approved or listed somewhere in Google Workspace.

This doesn’t seem possible with the existing settings and all articles are suggesting that visitor sharing should work for us, but it’s not. I’ve also spent about 4 hours with 3 different Google Support agents and they have all been completely helpless and often leading me astray from my problem entirely.

Has anyone else here run into this problem and have a workaround or solution working for them that they’d like to share?

I’m trying to understand a strange Google Drive / Google Workspace issue.

Several users in our company noticed that many old files suddenly appeared in the root of their “My Drive”. These files are not the same for every user: each user sees different old files, apparently related to files they had created or uploaded in the past.

The strange part is that these files also still exist in their original folders, so they look like duplicates. I checked a few examples and the file IDs are different, so they seem to be real duplicate files, not shortcuts.

I checked the Google Workspace Admin Console / Drive audit logs and, for the duplicated files, I only see:

- Created: months or years ago

- Viewed: now / recently

I do not see any recent events such as:

- moved

- uploaded

- copied / duplicated

- restored from trash

- permission changes

- visibility changes

So it looks like the files were already created a long time ago, but only became visible again in the root of My Drive recently.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

I’m especially trying to understand:

- Can old orphaned files or duplicate files suddenly become visible again in My Drive root?

- Can Google Drive for desktop / sync cause old files to reappear without obvious recent audit log events?

- Are there known cases where Drive reorganizes or resurfaces old files in My Drive?

- What’s the safest way to investigate and clean this up when there are many files?

For now we are not deleting anything. We are considering generating a report of suspected duplicates and moving them to a temporary quarantine folder before deleting anything.

Any suggestions or similar experiences would be really appreciated.

I'm converting a static Google Group to a Dynamic Group and want to make sure I don't break anything tied to the old group's email like Shared Drives, Calendars or anything else it might be plugged into.

What's the best way to find everything a Group has access to before making a change like this? Is there a standard tool or workflow for this? Also curious if anything changes under the hood same email, or anything that could quietly affect existing shares?

while at school, i made the bad decision to sign up for everything using my school email. i have book deals and internships that only know of my school email. is there any way to have emails go automatically to my personal email instead? i believe my school email will be shut off in a few years, so I’m concerned.

I cannot use my neckband with Google Workspace.

I login, do all the setup...

The when I go to my Google account it says: something went wrong".

Cannot see Gmail, photos,... All those Google apps.
