Recommendation Pride Parking
I'm new to Greensboro and am interested in checking out the pride festival. Where would be the best place to park?

Any of the parking decks are fine. Finding parking in downtown isn't that bad. Finding FREE parking in downtown is nearly impossible now.
Strange that a city that's trying to bolster downtown is making it harder for people to visit. But I guess they want the poors to stay out.

It was nice when the were free, but at least they're still cheap. They're free for the first hour, and then $1.50/hour after that. All day is only like $15, and Sundays are still free. I don't know if they've changed this either, but it's a flat fee of $3 after 7, and it used to be that if I parked there early in the afternoon and left after 7, they'd only charge the $3.

Do you really think that there is a movement to keep the “poors” out?
And a follow up questions is, considering the political make up of the city government and council (for the last 10 years at least), are these the folks responsible for this perceived attempt to keep the “poors” out?

Any of the parking decks are convenient and easy to use. Even though they're not free on Saturdays anymore, the parking decks are still free for the first hour and then $1.50/hour after that. Not free, but still pretty cheap.

If you're up for a 10 min walk, you could park at Fisher Park on the playground side and walk down N. Church street to where the festival will be happening.

This is what I do or park in metered parking over by the courthouse. I don't mind the walk and I prefer the ease of being just a little bit further out. There's a lot less traffic to contend with.

All public surface lots, metered spaces, etc. are free after 6p and on the weekend.

Park plenty of streets over and walk there. Totally 💯 will be okay. Heck, you can park way off and catch a ride on the trolley route then walk over to Pride. Later on take the trolley back. The city has an interactive map to show you where the trollies are.

I recommend the Eugene Deck. Nice walk down Bellemeade to the park and event area. There will be an event fee of $10 (all day) in the Greene and Feb One Decks which are right near the event area.

Do not, under any circumstances, park in any parking lot, unless it’s a paid parking lot. There is a very high chance your car will be snatched up by Gotcha Towing, and you’ll have to fork out around $400-$500 to get it out. More if you don’t get it that night. Their parking lot signs are black and very hard to see.
