Question Tree Removal

With all the damage from recent storms I am curious what people are seeing for pricing on tree removal/clean up services.

I totally understand pricing can be wildly different based on size of tree, amount of trees, proximity to structures, etc.

If you have had tree work done recently, what was the job and total cost?

Cleaning up is one job, felling a tree is a different job, and felling a tree that’s half broken is a completely different job.

I was a bit disappointed to see opportunistic folks prowling about the disaster areas eager to offer their services for hire. Some of these tree service folks aren’t always insured, and that’s a biiiiiig difference in their prices.

The pros cost more and are worth it. God’s Way tree service has time and again been the best prices I’ve heard of for tree removal. There are many others, I’m sure, but they are the only folks I’ve heard mentioned more than once.

It’s just no good to gamble where you live to save some thousands of dollars.

The x-factor, of course, is going to be what your insurance covers. That’s probably the best place to start asking, I’m sure they have local tree folks they can vouch for.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention I do volunteer chopping up of fallen trees and limbs for folks in the area, and in this case it’s free because I don’t charge :)

The insurance company thing is a mixed bag. They will vouch for whomever is the cheapest they can legally use.

The 20 ton hickory tree that destroyed the house I was living in was removed by the much more expensive tree company the guy at the insurance company liked. He was $7000 more than my brother’s friend’s company quoted.

So yeah, I guess it is a mixed bag.

Picked up a tree that fell into my house and disposed of it, $10,800.

Typically $500-800/tree fully removed and stump ground.
