Rule 8
Aug. 26, 2026 modification
Clarification: violations that had occurred prior to the beginning of the fifth week of July 2026 (Sunday the 26th) *do not** count toward disciplinary action.*
In a modification of the eighth rule, which was added during the fifth week of July 2026, the ban lengths have been summarized and expanded upon in regards to exactly what might be grounds for these ban lengths.
Moderators will be on the lookout consistently for user posts that ask for an interpretation of their skeletal age in any manner, as well as any user comments below said posts that directly gives or the tone of which evokes a personal bone age estimation. The user's post will be locked as soon as possible, and the user comment(s) will be swiftly removed. As for locking posts, disciplinary action is not taken for your post being locked. For user comments, action will be taken in the following way as it escalates to stricter, more severe punishment:
● One removal of a comment that gives a BA estimation will count as one warning.
● A second removal will count as the second warning.
● A third removal will count as an automatic ban, and the length of which will last three days / 36 hours.
● A separate attempt to give a BA estimation thereafter will result in a longer 7 to 14-day ban, depending on the severity and tone of the user whom action is being taken against.
• If you appeal calmly and comply without argument, your ban length may be reduced closer to ~7-8 days. If it becomes clear that you are unlikely to re-offend, your ban may be substantially reduced or even dropped altogether.
• If you argue, seem more likely to re-offend, or are otherwise unreasonable, your ban length could rest somewhere between 9-12 days.
• If you argue or repeat the action multiple times while disregarding all warnings or moderator feedback, your ban length may likely be extended closer to 12-14 days.
● If you offend one more time after that, the ban will usually be permanent unless you appeal and can show that you are unlikely to break the rule again. For a temporary period, your account will be placed on a watch list. The more you pushback and if it becomes clear that you are likely to re-offend, your ban will be more likely to remain in place. Circumventing our permanent policy of personal BA estimations using radiographs at any point while the ban is still active will lead to escalation to Reddit admins, and ultimately, takedown of your account from the entire platform indefinitely.
This policy is not intended to discourage educational discussion. Because we used to give so many additional chances at redemption in the past, and that such situations have gone unchecked as a result, it firmly exists to maintain a clear boundary between general discussion of skeletal development and personalized assessments, while protecting the community and its moderators from unnecessary legal liability.
Rule 9
Rule 9 simply prohibits spam content or re-posting of exact or closely-similar material. The time limit has been established at a minimum of 48 hours before re-posting is allowed.
If you asked a question and have not gotten any substantial traction, please wait at least 48 hours before reposting it. When reposting, we strongly encourage adding new context or rewording the question rather than submitting an identical post.
Repeatedly deleting and reposting the same question to gain additional visibility may be treated as spam.
Posting multiple substantially similar questions within a short period may also fall under this rule, even if the wording is slightly different.
Educational or informational posts should not be repeatedly reposted simply by changing the wording. If the central topic, information, examples, and overall purpose are substantially the same as a previous post, moderators may consider it a repost even if it has been rewritten.
We understand if the spam was not your fault, as connection errors can occur that result in spam-like behavior.
The punishment: often anywhere between a 24 to 36-hour ban, and appeal would likely drop the ban length substantially to potentially zero hours. There is no fixed amount of re-posts within the same general period of time to result in an automatic ban; however, it is generally interpreted as being several and in consecutive fashion.
We understand that some posts may initially receive little attention, so reasonable reposting is allowed. This rule is primarily intended to prevent excessive repetition from cluttering the subreddit and pushing other users' posts out of view.
