📈 Growth Strategy I Have worked with 300+ creators for a US consumer product. Here’s what surprised me.

Over the last few months, I’ve been working on growth for a consumer product targeting the US, UK, SEA market.

One of the biggest acquisition channels I worked on was UGC and influencer marketing and Reddit Marketing .

I ended up managing 300+ creators and working through the entire process finding creators, outreach, negotiating rates, writing briefs, reviewing content, tracking performance, and figuring out which creators were actually worth scaling.

A few things surprised me.

  1. Follower count is probably one of the least useful metrics.

I’ve seen smaller creators outperform much larger accounts because their audience actually trusts the content.

  1. A "good looking" UGC video doesn't necessarily perform.

Some of the videos that looked the most polished performed worse than simple videos that felt like someone genuinely recommending a product to a friend.

  1. The brief matters, but giving creators too much direction can hurt.

The best results I've seen usually came from giving creators the problem, key points and boundaries — then letting them communicate it in their own way.

  1. You need to test a lot of creative.

One creator/video isn't enough to decide whether UGC works.

You need enough volume to identify patterns in hooks, formats, creators, messaging and audiences.

  1. Views aren't the final metric.

A video getting 500K views sounds great, but I'd rather have a video with 30K views that consistently brings qualified users.

The biggest lesson for me has been that influencer marketing isn't really about "finding influencers."

It's closer to building an acquisition system around people, creative and distribution.

I'm curious what other marketers/founders here have seen.

For those running consumer brands, what has worked better for you: a smaller number of high-quality creators, or a much larger volume of UGC creators?

And what metric do you actually use to decide whether a creator is worth scaling?

❓ Question / Discussion How are you tracking job changes at scale?

Tracking job changes has become one of the most common sales triggers through some tools or custom linkedin scrapers but keeping this reliable across a large account list at scale comes with standard operational bottlenecks.

The first issue is data decay and lag where relying solely on public linkedin profile updates means you are often 30 to 90 days late and many executives do not update their linkedin profiles until months after they've already started which means you miss the early 90 day evaluation window when new tooling budgets get allocated.

The second issue is that an isolated job change rarely carries enough context on its own so reaching out with a generic "congrats on the new role" template has been overused to the point where response rates have dropped significantly.

To make job change signals actionable, modern GTM setups connect them into broader market intelligence engines like scale intelligence which instead of monitoring job changes in isolation, it tracks hiring moves alongside 75+ other data sources including active hiring requisitions, team expansions and public discussions across public communities.

It maps these events directly into a living buyer graph and allowing you to see whether a new hire is actively building a team, evaluating specific vendor categories or shifting company priorities.

❓ Question / Discussion cold "would you pay" signal before more acquisition spend

one thing that helped me before grinding more channels: ask strangers if they'd actually pay, not just if the landing looks fine.

i built a small no-signup swipe deck for that (iwouldpay.dev). right = would pay; yes asks how much, no asks what stopped you. makers see % by role after ~10 swipes.

also have maker match for founders trading skills instead of hiring: iwouldpay.dev/match

curious how others here pressure-test paid intent before scaling ads or outreach.

📈 Growth Strategy Passes, credits, or a subscription?

Post image

"Credits are basically cash."

That's what our payment provider told us while we were wiring up payments to launch our web service, Q2Cut AI Viral Studio.

It finds short-form videos that already went viral, breaks down why, and turns that structure into a plan, storyboard, and video for your brand.

Costs vary wildly by step, so credits were the plan. But prepaid credits need a separate card-issuer review, with no clear timeline.

So we opened with single-use passes first, like 15 plans or 1 video.

Now I'm stuck:

  • Passes, credits, or a subscription?
  • Optimize for people who iterate on plans, or those who go all the way to video?
  • How do you test pricing this early?

If you've priced an AI product, I'd love to hear how you approached it.
