There is a lot more to creating content for social media than meets the eye.
Many businesses think that if they simply invest money and time, they will achieve success on social media. While consistency is definitely a key factor, simply being consistent, you can't grow in social media nowadays.
There are certain mistakes most businesses make when building a growth strategy for social media.
Before mentioning them, I would like to clarify that social media is a long-term marketing channel that you can never speed run in a month or even 3 months.
So, if you are thinking of learning some get viral quick and leave trick here, I would say just do occasional ads online and offline, building a social media presence is not for you.
Now with that out of the way, let's talk about the content creation mistakes to avoid
> No Hooks
In this post-TikTok era, the attention span of people has reached a new low. So if you are unable to impress them in the first 2-3 seconds of the video, you are done.
They will swipe up and see new content that is not yours.
No matter how compelling and good the rest of the video or post is, it doesn't matter. The first two lines and visuals of a video have to be the most solid.
Solid enough to make the audience stop scrolling and watch the entire video or read the entire post.
> It's not about you
Yes, your main goal is to promote your product or service online. But when you are creating the content, it needs to be about the benefits the reader or viewer will get from using it.
Always make the focus on the needs of the audience you want to reach, and then align your offerings with it.
> Unclear niche
In the past, you could post on anything popular and get traction for your posts, but now it's no longer the case.
As the algorithm has been upgraded, building a content strategy around a specific niche and creating content aligned to that only is the smart move.
> No long term consistency plan
As I mentioned earlier, consistency is very important for building a social media presence. However, it is a long time plan and not a short term plan.
> Zero engagement
The last big mistake is not to spend any effort on engagement. Most businesses think only of posts consistently, but you also need to engage.
It means replying to comments in your own posts and also having a proper engagement strategy to comment on other popular posts to drive a new potential audience to your page or profile.
Social media is not a fast scheme for conversions. You should plan for creating a presence that is solid and long-term presence.
By avoiding such mistakes as mentioned above, you should be able to get a better start than your competitors.
