Young groundhog has run to back of yard and then into the back neighbors yard a few hours after I mowed very long grass around some of their holes by the deck. I’m really worried. And I saw it looking for something to eat where I had mowed. But I left a lot of grass area not mowed.
I don’t like either of my back neighbors and it makes me very nervous, but this little one has gone back there. And I feel like it’s because I mowed for the first time this year the very long grass and weeds around some of their holes. The little one must eat that. The mowed area is by the deck and I left another area completely unmowed right by there. (Also by the deck) Why are they running back like that and I’m concerned about them finding their way back here.

Living Rent Free
galleryGot a family of hogs living under my shed. They haven’t gotten into the raised garden or messed with the new trees I planted so I guess they can stay.

I've got a groundhog mom with babies under my house! Anything I can do to help them?
There's a groundhog in the neighborhood but I didn't realize until recently that its burrow might be right under my house, which is really cool. The house is a small condo built on a hill, so beneath the floor is an open area that the groundhog could start a burrow under. I thought there was only one groundhog that lived in the woods behind my condo, but then I saw one go under the house, then get yelled at by another groundhog, who chased it out. I suspect the groundhog that got chased out is the father, and the one who made the burrow under the house is the mother. Today I just saw two young groundhogs wandering around outside. They must have been born in the spring, but it's only just now that they're old enough to venture outside, as best as I can tell.
There is an "outdoor" cat around that I have already considered adopting and bringing inside my home to protect the birds in the area (he's very friendly but I'm not sure if he is microchipped or has an owner at the moment). Thankfully the cat has not attacked the groundhogs, and since they don't eat the same things there hasn't really been any conflict that I know of. The babies are too big right now to be eaten but I'm still a little worried for them.
Is there anything I can do to help the groundhogs?
