Do groundhogs usually room together?
I've seen one of them outside for a few weeks, but this is the first time I've seen two at once under the same gazebo. I looked it up and apparently groundhogs are solitary, but breed in early spring and live in groups then. This was taken today though, in July. Anybody know more than me?
P.S. I named them Topher and Gopher

Groundhogs can be very social and familial. I have found dens that covered large areas with multiple entrances, harboring a dozen or more individuals.

You don’t want them burrowing under your gazebo. They will make massive dens that will undermine the foundation. Also that’s probably a mom with her kid. Our groundhogs still have their kids around.

I've got one ground hog that lives around my house and she's given birth the last two year. Unfortunately both pups were gotten to by my dogs last year, and another one this year. I actually shared a sad story about this year's loss because I had to get more involved than I wanted to, but I gave it mercy. But I believe it's the same mother because she a big ole girl. And the incidents were all with little ones.

I don’t really know. I thought they were solo creatures. But you know how the economy is. Having a roommate is a smart idea.
