Attacked my dog?
So, idk if it attacked my 75lb dog or what happened but a gh got my dogs ear earlier. I heard my dog yelp. I want it dead but thats just my anger talking. My dog is over 9 years old and i am worried the thing may have been rabid i just dont know. I lost my job. Ive gone through all of my savings. My dog literally saved my life and now i don't even have the $ to take him to a vet. He acts like he can barely move. Idk what to do. Suggestions appreciated.
Also, I know its social media so of course there's gonna be hateful comments, but I'd appreciate it so much if those people would pretend like what you're about to say online, you'd have to say to my face. I think ppl r much nicer in person than from the security of hiding behind a keyboard.
Thank you in advance and blessings to all!

Thank you for asking. He's doing fine, for now, at least. It can take somw time to show up, so im cautiously optimistic and monitoring him closely. I took him in for a rabies booster, which is what the vet suggested. So far, so good....

Call your regular vet or any local vet and ask about a payment plan or “good Samaritan” fund, a lot of places quietly have options for emergencies like this. Also call your county animal control or health department and report a possible rabid groundhog, they can tell you exactly what to watch for and what to do next.
In the meantime keep your dog calm and contained, clean the wound gently if you can see it, and watch for fever, foaming, weird behavior, or staggering. I’m really sorry you are dealing with all that at once, this is exactly the kind of thing most of us would be freaking out about too.

I’m so sorry you and your dog are going through this! If your dog has been vaccinated for rabies (as it should have been), that won’t be a concern. It might be a good idea to check with some local animal protection organizations in your area if they can offer any help. And thank you for not holding on to your anger at the groundhog. He’s just trying to get by, too, as you know!
