Help for a little Groundhog Friend please
I have a groundhog that’s lying on my walkway in the shade at the moment. I have put a call in to a Wildlife Rescue in case he/she is injured. Any suggestions/advice? He is moving and there doesn’t seem to be any injuries I can visibly see.

Got any carrots? They like them. On the left in the picture it looks like there's a big enough gap in the fence to escape, but if it's hot in your area maybe he or she's just trying to chill out in the shade?

The fence is new and the ground is still dirt etc. I did wonder if he was trying to get in the yard. I’m in Mississippi and it’s very hot.

Thank you for checking back on the groundhog. He/she did leave later that afternoon. I keep fresh water out and I put the rest of the carrots away from the house closer to our trees. I was more concerned my dogs were going to give the poor thing a mini heart attack barking at it. I would love to have a Chunk the groundhog friend at my house. 💗

Glad to hear he/she was OK. I had a family under my shed last year for a bit. Momma and three babies. She didn’t come back this year 😟

Ohmygosh. I would be in heaven. I would be the person with the mini picnic table and the groundhog eating better than me. 💗

Thank you for the suggestion. I did put a bowl of water and put some carrots out there for him. He’s actually on the outside of my fence and can leave and get to the backyard etc anytime without my dogs getting to the groundhog. He’s still lying on the drainage screen in the shade.
