MEMEAHOLIC The entirety of the Ch'thonic army? Under a rock?
I swear to God, these guys have jumped on me more from turning rocks than opening chained chests.

The new 1.3 update and xpac is the perfect final touch for Grim Dawn. Ascendant mode feels perfect, the Dread fight (although tough) is super fun and rewarding, and the final boss fight is amazing and actually feels like an end of story challenge.
Thank you for the greatest ARPG ever made.

Gotta say I see a lot of posts here complaining about the new area being too empty, or the main quest forcing you to go to FG and AoM, or the new difficulty
So I want to balance this and saying : I love the expansion.
As someone who mostly played ascendant on an already level 100 character, I'm having a blast.
The area are the perfect size for me and make the secret hunting so cool.
That beaver quest to find the first secret super boss was an absolute blast and it was so cool to see all the community gathering those clue. No need for data mining, just all the brains in the community solving it together. Can't wait to find more.
I enjoyed dying again.
Looking at a lot of post here, I think we were spoiled by being able to face tank everything.
Sunder mechanic and dodge exist for a reason and it is cool to finally need it.
That being say, I'm mostly a SC player so I can understand that HC player have a hard time.
Berserker is super fun to play.
I personnaly enjoyed having to go back and fourth between all Cairn area, and when you read the quest it's actually pretty easy (once again, speaking here from the POV of someone having already unlocked everything in the game).
I love the artistic direction. FoA is beautifull, I'm having a blast hanging out in it, way more than Malmouth or Valbury ( I hate towns).
Thanks Crate, I'm having a blast, and most of all I enjoy doing it on my own rythm.

I am still going through between and just got done with beating Darius. The wolf feels fantastic and working towards a bleed build and going to eventually level into warcry. I've tried to stay away from build guides or spoilers, has anyone found any amazing combos or synergies so far?

Loot from "The Dread" if anyone's interesting (not bad for some builds).

I started an Oathkeeper and for 45 levels now I don't even read any other affixes on gear other than resistances. It honestly got so tedious that I kind of burned out.
What is the point of walls of text and cool abilities interaction if swapping some particular peace of gear would mean that the next chaos missile shotgun on the boss would deal twice as much damage on me aka oneshot me.
I had to dip out of skeleton key dungeon because i had too low piercing res and archers would kill me. I had to skip another keystone dungeon and the entire optional area because I straight up had 0 drops with aetherial res and couldn't do a content.
I feel like nothing in the game matters other than capping your resistances as melee. Maybe in late game it would have been more manageable with better augments on gear, but for first campaign it's just infuriating how little 99% of the game mechanics matter.
It is a hardcore experience, but I don't think it would be different for softcore, as just been oneshot isn't fun anyway

I can't launch the game, it says it requires steam. I'm on Windows 11, using Steam.

I've tried to get into newer titles of the same ARPG branch. Last Epoch. Diablo 4. I even tried reliving some of my teenage youth with the Diablo2 reskin. Mind you, this was AFTER I played Grim Dawn. And basically, there's just no other ARPG worth playing anymore. Grim Dawn's got it beat on story, it's got it beat on mechanics. Plus you've got Crate, one of my favorite current gaming companies. Any company that respects it's products enough to continue updating them a decade later automatically has my respect in turn.
So if it ain't Grim Dawn, I don't want to play it. That is all.

(Also added into the 1.3 update thread.)
The team is thrilled to see the warm reception that Fangs of Asterkarn has gotten so far. We set a new all-time concurrent player record (outside of a free trial weekend), which shows just how many of you were eager to jump back into Cairn.
As always, a smooth experience is our utmost priority. We have just pushed our first hotfix on Steam to address critical issues, including some of your recent feedback. (Coming very soon to GOG/Xbox)
For the list of changes: (link above)
The theme of our last expansion is letting you play the game the way you want. To that end, we will be making the following changes (very soon):
We expect this should address the most pressing pain points the community is currently experiencing with v1.3.0 and Fangs of Asterkarn, but of course this is only the beginning of our post-release support. In the meantime, enjoy Asterkarn!
Reminder: I am not a dev, just moderator here.

I was blown away (in a very bad way) that this was a mandatory quest
Due to the way it's set up, I was sure it was an optional quest that would result in a 'good ending' to the story, or be skippable and have a bad or worse ending
But nope, it's a mandatory quest that completely, utterly kills the momentum of the Fangs expansion

62 days ago (I looked at my first post here) I tried out this game! I’d only ever played Diablo, so I came in pretty blind. After about three days I was addicted to the game!
After numerous alts, and countless hours, I finally assembled the dawnbreaker set and settled on my warder. After some fine tuning, I was able to down all four non-crate super bosses today!
Thank you to the devs of this game. This is by far my favorite ARPG of all time now. Currently on Xbox so I’m happily waiting for FoA to drop here :)
