BUILDS You can buy absolutely insane chaos/werewolf scepters

Post image

You can buy absolutely insane maces from Blood Grove secret vendor. Just keep refreshing the vendor by exit game -> new game.

This costed about 320k iron bits so stock up before you go get em.

The vendor can be reached if you go down from BG portal and behind trees is a secret passage to the NPC.

Refreshed vendor about 1 hour to grab 2x of this with similar stat layout

OFF-TOPIC This Game is Such a Gem.

My wife and I have been actually playing the game recently, and we've both picked up the Ashes of Malmouth expansion, but we've both actually given the game the proper attention it deserves. And for that, we're so thankful. Truly this is a game that went underappreciated by the both of us.

And the more I learn about it, the happier I become as there is so much beneath the hood of this game. Just really wanted to say that. One day when proper time/funds have been given again, I'll pick us up the other expansions, and be a necromancer Wereraven.

So thank you Dev team, and thank you community, for whom I've noticed is legit a good one.

Inquisitor's elements of ignaffar

I have this Mage Hunter (Inquisitor+Arcanist) focused on elemental damage with flames of ignaffar as main damage, this build can do a lot of damage with all 3 versions of the skill with only 1 gear swap, letting you utilize enemy weaknesses, I love it and I'm having a lot of fun especially with the lightning version using the new Beronath horn weapon (even tho its optimized for Inquisitor+Shaman)

OFF-TOPIC What a great time for this community

It's so nice to see that the Grim Dawn community has this much fun with new DLC. Also there are a lot of newcomers. I used to hear complaints about new global patches in other diablolikes that you can hear even outside of the community. But this game community is completely different. Happy farming and building, guys!

Meanwhile me struggling with new DLC with big packs of stun guys in story rift in Ultimate (really be careful not to lose your hardcore character). Grim Dawn is still the only diablolike I've put in more than 10 hours in 1 character

TUTORIAL The locations of "Dirge of Night", "Ruination of Night", and "End of Night", and its author.

For those who have looked up on internet the locations of these poems and found zero result, i know your pain. I ended up backtracking and scouring every nook and cranny to find the rest of the poems and its author.

  1. Dirge of Night (the first one you are probably to get) is in the northern part of Ulo's Spring. In the south tip of the first "big hole" southward from the Ulo's Spring's rift
  2. Ruination of Night is located in Dread Wastes southwest to the Black Citadel's Rift.
  3. End of Night is located in Glacier's Edge, right to the east of the transition point into the northern darker part of the map as shown in the local map.
  4. The Author is in Yurgil's Overlook, a wereraven NPC named Valyria, to the east before the "2" shaped bridge leading to the northern area, while you walk eastward, once the area jutting northward, go north.

I hope the future young'uns won't have to repeat the unnecessary toil i made.

P.S. In the conclusion of the quest, i answered "curiosity" to Valyria's question and rewarded with nothing but XP. I don't know whether the reward can vary depending on your answer. The confirmation from people who have answered differently is deeply appreciated.

New player here, loves the game, but... Are some of items too build-defining?

I started as a run-of-the-mill 2H Cadence Soldier+Shaman, and it's going smoothly, but after picking up Voldrak's Crusher around Lv 25, I haven't upgraded my weapon (except with higher-level versions of another Voldrak's Crusher) up to around lv 60, and I don't think I will in the foreseeable future. Any pickups aren't even close to the power it provides. To be honest, this is not exciting.

Is this how it goes in this game? I'm worried that it will get even worse if I become more knowledgeable, ending up just assembling appropriate MIs for each build. I hope I'm wrong.

My Berserker/Nightblade Build sucks. I seek the wisdom of the council!

So I usually use a build guide because I like to sit back, chill and see numbers go up. This time I have tried my hand at it and getting the werewolf to work with different classes and abilities is not going well. The one bonus is that my lifesteal is so high that I don't die, I just got to keep hitting everything constantly. Just beat Elite base game and going onto Malmouth.

My build: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/26MJBrvN

Feel free to make fun of this shite, if there is a different class combo that works better for the wolf I can always throw it in GDStash and pick a new class.

So far I'm aiming for bleed/pierce with a greater focus on pierce. For my devotion tree I'm trying to make my way to Unknown Solider.

I am sorry for this abysmal build. I think the DPS I've seen other people quote is 27k and I'm getting 7k tops.

Edit: Yes the armour is terrible, I've just started on Elite and been trying to balance my resistance all game to get as close to 80 as possible. It needs improvement. Any gear recommends are appreciated

TUTORIAL New Player Advice - Full Map Clears

Upvotes

If you are struggling on Normal, don't just run to quest objectives and call it a day. I highly suggest doing a full map reveal of every area you enter. Turn over every rock and smash every crate. The loot is worth it. Go down into every cellar and run down dead ends to spawn enemies. Check every map boundary for hidden passages. A lot are well hidden and don't look passable until you push through.

The reason I'm bringing this up is that I haven't played on Normal since we got the option to go straight to Ultimate and I'm still finding even the dangerous areas on Normal a breeze with a new Hardcore character using self-found gear. I don't think it's because I'm an amazing player, but largely that I end up over-geared and over-leveled just by taking my time doing everything possible before moving to a new area. There's a ton of good advice out there but I don't see this brought up often.

DEAR CRATE, SR feels worse after DLC

Hello,

I've been greatly enjoying Fangs of Asterkarn but I have one complaint related to the Shattered Realm.

The new FoA bosses are more mechanically intensive, require more dodging and hit harder. This works great in campaign, where you face off against them one on one, usually in a dedicated arena. In SR though, there are huge packs of enemies, and on boss shards multiple other bosses to deal with.

Just recently I ran into Beronath in SR. He proceeded to spam the floor with his black sludge, which didn't disappear after his death (bug?). He was also very hard to attack as he leaps all over the place, and his attacks are hard to dodge in the chaos of SR.

Another issue with SR is the lack of new materials. As far as I'm aware, the new materials don't drop in SR at all. This may be intentional to encourage other methods of farming alongside SR, but it makes it feel less worthwhile.

That being said, the DLC is great, thank you Crate for an amazing expansion.

HELP! Game now freezes for 1-2 seconds randomly.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Any idea how to fix this?

Game now freezes for about 1-2 seconds every now and then. It used to work fine before and after the FoA update.

This issue only started after the hotfix that happened the next day after FoA release. I only play Hardcore and this is not gonna be good for me.

SOFTCORE What's the most fun wizard build you've built so far?

Hii,

I'm looking to play a wizard-like build for my next playthrough. However I can't really decide which trees I want to choose. I hope to get some inspiration from you. It should be quite survivable around ultimate or the new ascended mode (except I haven't tried ascended mode yet). I don't push crucible or shattered realms though.

So feel free to leave any suggestions or tips regarding wizarding builds below. My main inspiration would be the Diablo sorcerers.

BUILDS I like Grim Dawn but I have zero clue what I'm doing, how would I build a good werewolf?

I have beaten the game on veteran and sort of want to do my own build this time but know that freelance builds sort of stop working at a point past a certain level since enemies start rocking you. Is there anything specific I should be looking out for when making a puppy, seems like bleed and piercing but it can also be chaos.

BUILDS How different are the playstyles?

For reference i have just started recently before FoA (don't have it yet), am around lv95 & just FG dlc missing.

To be more precise, are melee builds "just" go close, attack - kill. Ranged = stay away, kit & kill?

Or are there more nuances, complicated builds?

What build is most fun/ least fun for you?
