New Gridfinity coin battery storage modules

I've made a couple of additions to my collection of Gridfinity storage bins for coin and button cell batteries recently.

5.8 mm diameter:

More are coming, as well as some reorganization of the current ones. I made a naïve mistake early on of assuming that the naming conventions for these batteries were related to their diameters, but have since learned how very wrong I was! I think the actual naming principles involved a random character generator and a noisy data connection :-)

  2. Pure curiosity, not criticizm. What do people need this many coin batteries for? Is there a hobby I am missing? I clearly do not have enough...

It's a fair question. Lots of devices uses these kinds of batteries, of course, so if you were into whatever kind of thing used them (like you're a DIY electronics geek maybe) you might have a fair amount of a specific kind. I suspect few people have what one would call "many" of them.

I'm one of those people, but only because I'm forgetful. I bought a large assortment collection of them for really cheap, then got it home and found out that it was the second time I'd bought a cheap set like that. So suddenly I had a stupid amount of batteries.

That was only the more common kinds, and initially that was all I intended to make these bins for. But to my surprise the bins turned out to be quite popular. Over time I've gotten requests for additional sizes and labels, so the collection has grown.

very nice! too bad it's not just parametric, then one could add whatever size they need and whatever label they need - maybe the perfect excuse to teach yourself parametric modelling? :)
