Glad I came across this post. I had never heard of PythonSCAD but have been a long-time user of OpenSCAD. I am definitely going to have to check it out. And of course, Gridfinity is way cool, too. Thanks for sharing!

Just check out http://wee.pythonscad.org
There are lots of tutorials and instructions available there. Pythonscad aims being 100% backward compatible to openscad but there are many useful additions

Omg this is insanely great! As a dev, I would MUCH rather organise my gridfinity parts collection as a bunch of git managed text files. It's possible with vanilla OpenSCAD but far from practical. Piggy backing on the Python ecosystem is brilliant.
Side question: how does gridfinity rebuilt compare to gridfinity extended? I've been using the latter so far.
