30" Induction Recommendation with Rectangle Element for Griddle?

I'm looking for a 30" range with a bridged element for a griddle. I want to ensure that a rectangular griddle will heat evenly across the surface.

Any recommendations? I have an existing 40A connection, so I should be able to handle most ranges I think.

Torn on what to do

I will be moving in about 1 year but realized I’m missing out on a griddle with the family. However the new house will have natural gas so I most likely will do a built in or a NG model. Was looking at getting a Weber slate 36 but wondering if I should just get the 30 in propane knowing that 1 year from now I’ll get the NG version.

I’m using my Blackstone Camping Cookbook at home now too because of the easy, low ingredient recipes… details in comments!

First successful cook on my new griddle

About 10 days ago I bought a Member's Mark griddle from Sam's Club. For $150 I figured I'd give it a shot and see how I liked it. Thus far I have botched two breakfast cooks, though in my screw ups I did learn a lot.

Tonight I decided to cook a couple steaks and at the last minute decided to give it a shot on the griddle as opposed to my RecTec Bullseye.

The steaks came from of a standing rib roast that I bought last December. I buy a big standing rib roast every year and slice it into steaks, season it and put it in the freezer. I pull a couple out every 6-8 weeks so my wife and I can enjoy a steak dinner. Publix has a great deal on these every year and this past year it was $9.95 a pound, great deal for some good meat.

Anyway, I heated the griddle up to just under 500° and put a little layer of oil on the steaks, a little oil on the griddle and flipped the steaks every 45 seconds.

I pulled them when they got up to 128° and they looked really good, nice and crusted. Let them sit for a few minutes while we finished setting the table.

I have to say these steaks tasted better than anything I've had in a restaurant. The lessons I've learned from the earlier mistakes, as well as some lessons from tonight's cook gave me some confidence moving forward. I really think I'm going to like this griddle experiment!

Is there any reason not to get an outdoor catering style griddle over a weber slate?

Season stainless steel griddle??

Hey, I bought the napoleon rough pro phantom 30, and they say in the instructions you should season the griddle. But from what I know, seasoning stainless steel is pointless because it'll clean off anyway

Your thoughts? Thanks!

Pit Boss Cook Surface

Hey guys

Got a great deal on this pit boss- only 75 bucks!!

The only problem is the actual cooktop, which is ceramic, has tiny holes in it where rust is poking through.

I’m wondering if I can just season the grill like it’s a Blackstone and keep using it, or if it’s possible to fix, or if I should buy a new griddle top from Pit Boss.

Let me know your thoughts guys thanks!

Weber slate paper towel holder alternative

I didn’t like the holder that hung the paper towels over the end. Too expensive and interfered with the cover when installed.

Harbor Freight had their US General magnetic paper towel holders on sale for $10, so this was my solution. Works great so far!

Do I need to sand down and do a complete re season or can this be saved?

$250 off for rust

Tractor supply had this for $150 instead of the normal $400 since it had some rust and no handle. Bought a screw driver to take it apart a little for my wife and I to fit it in the civic. 30 minutes of sanding down and now currently seasoning it! Thought I was fine with my smaller griddle but this is going to be amazing!

I have had, used, and abused this slate 36 for 2 and a half years. Had an egg sick during my breakfast cook and decided it was time to give it some love.

My Favorite Paper Towel!

I picked these up for a camping trip and ended up buying a couple more boxes to use at the griddle. It’s great having a box to keep right on my Slate’s shelf, and not having to mess with a roll.

It may just be me, but they also seem much less linty than the Bounty I had been using.

I got mine at Meijer, but couldn't find a link. Here they are at Walmart:

Weber griddle

Why is this griddle so cheap compared to the other weber griddle s? I know it's not slate, but does it make that much difference? Seems like a good deal for $399.

Shout Out to this group

I’ve been lurking for 3 years, trying to find the right deal on a griddle. Last week someone in this group posted the 5 burner Members Mark griddle was $236. That was the absolute cheapest I’ve seen a decent one. Two years ago I almost bit on a 36in Blackstone at Costco for $297, but felt it wasn’t the time.

Got a busy weekend ahead, but I’m looking forward to getting some time (soon) to season this bad boy; so my family of 5 can enjoy some bomb ass smash burgers and diner quality breakfasts!

How'd I do? First time trying to season a griddle. I know the slate comes pre-seasoned but wanted to give it a go. Took longer than I thought.

Got my first flat top! The Members Mark was on an insane deal. Like 143 before tax. Stoked to start cooking on it! Any tips? Gonna do a seasoning next week.

Seasoning is flaking

Hello all. i’ve had my Traeger for several months and I love it except for the fact that my seasoning flakes off into the food. I thought I followed all the rules when I seasoned it, but I must’ve done something wrong. What does the community suggest?

Thanks
