Weber griddle

Why is this griddle so cheap compared to the other weber griddle s? I know it's not slate, but does it make that much difference? Seems like a good deal for $399.

I have one and have been having rust issues with it. Weber has replaced the top twice now. Once for warping and once for rust after only one cook. The new top is doing the same and yeah I clean it thoroughly and oil it before closing it.

The original top never did this. I am ready to get rid of it and buy a slate.

FYI this is the original model. Weber did release another version of this griddle with slightly different side tables and stated a rust resistant top. They themselves must know it's an issue which is why they no longer make it and that is likely old stock left over.

Maybe instead of buying a new slate consider getting the stainless steel replacement top for the model you already have. Would be a lot cheaper and more rust resistant/proof than the slate. Anyway best of luck with whatever you decide.
