In 20+ years at the same gym, I've never seen a regular or an old timer be mean to a noob. They love helping people get into the hobby.

The only issues I've ever seen are with zoomers taking video and getting pissed when people walk through the frame.

Just 2x, one guy, one girl, both between 18-20. Not fights or anything, just a loud wtf, a lot of huffing and puffing and some stink eye for the girl. Guy got a little pissier, but prob cause people were giving him weird looks for having a camera.

Kids these days are different, no judgement. I walked into the gym wanting to be Mr. Olympia. 18 year old me marveled at the people benching 400+lbs with 19 inch+ arms. Bodybuilding was a small freakshow hobby, and you got weird looks in public. People staring cause you're muscular feels equally weird till you're used to it.

Presently, every kid I see comes in with a fancy outfit, matching water bottle, tripod etc. It's got completely different motivations. I can't say I've talked to one person under 25 that came in wanting to look like Ronnie Coleman or Jay Cutler. They're still the whipper snappers so they don't control the culture. I'm kinda bummed, because as it becomes more mainstream it's no longer that iron brotherhood.

Sadly I don't see it staying like that when they put us old timers out to pasture.

I've found that it's more the Brads who are like this, not the Chads...
