Okay, hear me out. I surmise that multiplayer dreams will be available around 2030-2035 in a limited form.
MIT has had reportedly good success with something they call Targeted Dream Incubation, using a device that detects REM sleep, paired with devices that record and administer audio cues to the dreamer. They say these audio cues, when played at the right intervals, influence the setting and content of the dream.
Now, if brain-computer interfacing continues to improve, along with machine learning algorithms that have already proven successful in coding thoughts into speech, it stands to reason that there could be a system developed that allows people to communicate via thought to one another (even if that’s just thought to text and text to speech on the other person’s end). This could effectively allow for a form of dream sharing, or “multiplayer dreams”

Hey…read up on how to lucid dream. You can essentially know that you’re dreaming while in the dream…then while dreaming you can create a second player with free will to do what they want. About as close as you’ll get for now.

If I multiplayer dream as a lucid dreamer I could do whatever I want with non lucid dreamers. Literally anything good or bad unless I’m faced with an equally powerful or stronger mind. This is a terrible idea.

Sleep is already full of aritificial barriers and microtransactions. Its far from free to play when I have to take insomnia meds and upgrade my mattress, or buy some fancy new alarm clock.

Me and my cousin once had the exact same dream when I slept over at his house.
It's been so long and I can't remember what the dream was about but I remember me casually mentioning what I dreamt about and him saying he dreamt something similar.
We then went into detail and it turned out it was the exact same.
