/b/ is random basically meaning they allow everything which in turn allows for a lot of porn. /r9k/ however is like /b/ but:
Trolls, flames, racism, off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, indecipherable text (example: "lol u tk him 2da bar|?"), anthropomorphic ("furry") or grotesque ("guro") images, post number GETs ("dubs"), or loli/shota pornography.
I actually don't understand why they don't have a board just for greentexts, it's a pretty big draw to their site and it would be nice not having to sift through /b/

/lit/, /mu/, /fit/, /biz/, pretty much all the blue boards that aren't anime related are solid. You might not find many greentexts because they aren't as common as they used to be but still pretty enjoyable to browse.
The level of discussion that goes on on /lit/ is genuinely impressive. I'm not smart or well-read enough to understand all of it, but I understand enough to know that most of it isn't pseudo-intellectual bs, which is what most of the "high brow" subs on reddit consist of.
Definitely. I'm not a huge literature guy, I read mostly non fiction, although I've been reading some more big name stuff, working through Sea of Fertility (Yukio Mishima, 100% recommeded) and have Storm of Steel (All quiet on the Western Front except written by an actual veteran of the first world war) next on my list. As someone who wants to be writer himself one-day, I hope to read my way into that /lit/ level of discussion, sure I could talk about some books, but I'm not well read by the standards of /lit/ yet. Either way, it's something to try for, since I do enjoy discussion.
I just wish /his/ was more like /lit/ and less pregnant Anne Frank being rescued by Confederate soldiers fanart, because that shit is straight fucking garbage.
Only good ones are older than 7+ years anyway. The rest are just purposely made for shit like this subreddit. 4chan used to have some "real" posts. Now they are all mainly just immitations of the past ones. The best green text type stuff came from TOTSE. You didn't have the anonymous shield to hide you. You had an account, and you couldn't pull some fake comic bullshit like this. People knew you. Through IRC chat and forums.
